Make business lending easier to finish, from documents to funding

Four questions for business owners once the funds arrive: how easy the application was, which documents were hardest, how long funding took and how clear the terms were. Add an open question and Usertick reads every written answer for you.

What this business loan survey tells you

A small business loan survey asks owners about the whole process once the money is in their account. This template asks four questions in about 40 seconds: an effort score for the application, which documents were hardest to provide, how long the funds took to arrive and how clear the loan terms were.

It is written for an email sent once the funds arrive, when the owner can judge the process from the first form to funding. The same template runs as a link your lending team adds to the funding confirmation, or in the chat layout, one question at a time, for owners who answer on a phone between customers.

Results shows the effort score with the share who found it easy, bars for the hardest documents, the share of each funding time and the clarity rating as CSAT, each against the period before. Add an open question and Usertick reads each written answer, files it under a category from your list and gives it a type and an urgency.

The 4 questions, one by one

What each question asks, why it is there, what it shows you and what to change.

Question 1 of 4 · Customer effort

How easy was the application for your business?

Why ask it
Business owners apply while running the business, so effort decides whether they finish or go to a lender with a shorter form. A 7-point scale from very difficult to very easy measures it.
What you learn
Results shows the average on the 1 to 7 scale and the share who found it easy, with a hard-to-easy bar, against the period before.
Make it yours
Keep it first, so owners can answer inside the email with one tap.
Question 2 of 4 · Multiple choice · Optional

Which documents were hardest to provide?

Why ask it
Documents are where business applications stall. Knowing which one is hardest tells you where to accept an alternative, connect to the owner's accounting software or explain better.
What you learn
Bars show the share and count of each document, since owners can pick more than one, against the period before. Select Tax returns to see how those owners scored the effort.
Make it yours
Add the documents your own process asks for, such as a lease or a cash flow forecast, and keep None of them last.
Question 3 of 4 · Multiple choice

How long did it take to receive the funds?

Why ask it
Time to funding is the number business owners compare between lenders. The bands show how long it felt from their side, including the days spent on documents.
What you learn
A donut shows the share and count of each band, and over time as stacked shares, so a slower month shows up as a growing More than a month slice.
Make it yours
Change the bands to match what you promise, so anything slower than your promise has a band of its own.
Question 4 of 4 · Stars

How clear were the loan terms?

Why ask it
Unclear terms lead to disputes later, about fees, repayment dates or what happens after a late payment. A 5-point rating shows how well the offer explained them.
What you learn
Results shows the average, a bar per rating and the share who rated 4 or higher, against the period before.
Make it yours
Filter to the low ratings and check which documents those owners found hardest, to see whether the same applications struggled twice.

Tips for this survey

Small choices that keep people answering and the answers useful.

  1. 01

    Send once the funds arrive

Import the week's funded loans as a contact list and send, or schedule the send up to 30 days ahead. Usertick doesn't send it on its own when your loan system releases funds.

  2. 02

    Add one open question

The template has no written question. Add an optional What would have made applying faster? at the end, so Usertick reads what owners would change.

  3. 03

    Keep financial details out

Ask about the process, never for revenue figures, tax ID numbers or account numbers. Usertick's terms don't allow government ID numbers, and the survey works without them.

  4. 04

Share the documents chart with underwriting

On every plan, a workflow adds each response to a Google Sheet, so the underwriting team can see each month which documents slow owners down.
