Survey answers as Azure DevOps work items
Create or update Azure DevOps work items from survey answers, or find the one an answer is about, through a Zap that runs on each new answer you collect.
From an answer in Usertick to Azure DevOps
A Zap creates a work item such as a bug from an answer, updates one with what the customer said, or finds a work item first so the answer joins the right one.
The Zap starts in Usertick. It can run on every new answer, once the AI has read one, when one turns urgent or when its status changes, and a workflow can hand over only the answers its conditions pick.
Pick a survey in the trigger, and each question arrives as its own field, so the score and the comment land in the Azure DevOps fields you choose. The answer's email, page, country, device and AI reading come with it.

- Zapier plan

- Starts when

What the Zap can do in Azure DevOps
Choose the action in Usertick, and Zapier opens with the trigger and the action already in place.
- 01Create a work item
- 02Update a work item
- 03Find or create a work item
Zapier's page for Azure DevOps listed 7 actions and searches on November 1, 2026. These fit survey answers best.
- Create Work Item
- Update Work Item
- Add Link to Work Item
- Find Work Item
- Find or Create Work Item
Three Zaps to build with Azure DevOps
Each one starts on a Usertick trigger and uses an action from Zapier's page for Azure DevOps.
Route a bug to an Azure Boards area path
Using the bug filter on Response Analyzed, the Zap creates a Bug work item in the area path and iteration you select, with AI theme as its title and Browser, Operating system and the Response link in its description.
Azure DevOps action: Create Work Item
Reuse an Azure DevOps work item for a repeated theme
Reports of one AI theme arrive at a workflow's Workflow Step, and Find or Create Work Item runs a query for that theme and creates a work item only when the query returns nothing, so the backlog gains no duplicate.
Azure DevOps action: Find or Create Work Item
Raise an Azure DevOps work item on urgent feedback
Urgent Feedback runs Find Work Item with a query on the AI theme, and Update Work Item raises the priority of the item it returns and records the Survey name and Response link on it.
Azure DevOps action: Update Work Item
Zapier's free plan runs a Zap with one action. A Zap with a search step or a filter has more steps and takes a paid Zapier plan.
What Usertick sends to Zapier
Every trigger carries these fields, ready to map into Azure DevOps.
Attachments such as screenshots stay in Usertick, because a Zap can't open their links. The Response link opens the answer with its files in the inbox.
Connect Azure DevOps in three steps
Settings opens Zapier with the trigger and the action already in place.
- 1
Pick the action in Usertick
Open Settings, then Integrations, select Azure DevOps and choose what the Zap does there.
- 2
Sign in on Zapier
Sign in to Usertick from the Zap and choose the organization when you allow access.
- 3
Map the fields and turn it on
Pick the survey to watch, map the answer's fields to Azure DevOps and turn the Zap on.
To send only some answers, add a Zapier step for Azure DevOps to a workflow instead. The workflow's conditions decide which answers reach the Zap, and the workflow can be published once its Zap is on.

Create Work Item asks for the project and the type, and the types depend on the project's process. An Agile project offers Bug and User Story, a Scrum project offers Bug and Product Backlog Item, and a Basic project offers Issue.
Update Work Item has a setting that suppresses notifications. With it on, a survey-driven change doesn't send the people following the item an email, and with it off, Azure DevOps notifies them as usual.
Zapier comes with every plan in Usertick, and Free runs 1 Zap. On Zapier, a two-step Zap like this one runs on the free plan.
No. The Zap signs in with your Usertick account, and you choose the organization when you allow access. API keys are for Usertick's REST API.
Yes. Response Analyzed filters by type and urgency, Urgent Feedback runs once for each answer that turns urgent, and a workflow's Zapier step hands over only the answers its conditions pick.
Pick the survey in the trigger. Each question then arrives as its own field, such as Q1 with the score, ready to map into Azure DevOps.
A Zap that starts in Azure DevOps can use Usertick's actions. Update Response sets an answer's status, type or urgency, Add Comment adds a note your team sees in the inbox, and Find Response looks up an answer by email or ID first.
No. Attachments stay in Usertick, because a Zap can't open their links. The Response link field opens the answer, with its files, in the inbox.
