Holiday shopping survey template

Review your peak season, with the shoppers who lived through it

Four questions for after the holiday rush: how shoppers rated your deals, whether the site worked smoothly, whether orders arrived by the promised date and what to do differently next season. Send it by email or share the link, and Usertick reads every written answer for you.

What this holiday shopping survey tells you

A holiday shopping survey asks the customers who bought during your busiest weeks how the season went, from the deals to the delivery dates. This template asks four questions in under a minute: a star rating for your deals, a yes or no on whether the website worked smoothly, a yes or no on whether the order arrived by the promised date, and an open question about next season.

It is written for one email after peak season orders have been delivered, such as early January for holiday orders or mid-December for Black Friday. Usertick sends it to a contact list of season buyers now or on a date up to 30 days ahead, and the deal rating can be answered inside the email. The link also fits your own post-season email.

Every written answer is read as it arrives and filed under a category from your list, such as shipping and delivery or checkout and payment, with a type and an urgency. Results shows the deal rating, the share who had a smooth site and the share whose order came on time, and next year you can set the date range to each season to compare them.

The 4 questions, one by one

What each question asks, why it is there, what it shows you and what to change.

Question 1 of 4 · Stars

How would you rate our deals this season?

Why ask it
Deals drive the season, and a rating tells you whether shoppers saw them as real savings. It comes first so it can be answered inside the email.
What you learn
Results shows the average rating, a bar per rating and the share who rated 4 or higher. Select the low ratings to see whether those shoppers also had trouble with the site or the delivery.
Make it yours
Say which sale you mean in the email, such as Black Friday or the holiday sale, if you ran more than one.
Question 2 of 4 · Yes / No

Did the website work smoothly while you shopped?

Why ask it
Traffic peaks are when sites slow down or fail, and shoppers notice slow pages that never reach an error log. A yes or no tells you how many felt it.
What you learn
Results shows the share that said yes. Select No to read what those shoppers wrote about next season and which steps they mention.
Make it yours
Next season, add a website survey with the page error trigger, from Starter or on 1 survey on Free, so shoppers can report a problem the moment it happens.
Question 3 of 4 · Yes / No

Did your order arrive by the date we promised?

Why ask it
A delivery promise broken in the holiday season costs more than at any other time, because the gift misses the day. A plain yes or no counts how often that happened.
What you learn
Results shows the share that said yes. Select No to see how those shoppers rated the deals and what they want you to change.
Make it yours
If you used more than one carrier for the season, add a question that names it, so you can compare carriers before booking next year's capacity.
Question 4 of 4 · Text · Optional

What should we do differently next season?

Why ask it
Shoppers who lived through your peak know what to change: order cutoffs, stock on the bestsellers, gift wrapping, a slow checkout. One open question collects next season's to-do list.
What you learn
Each answer appears with its sentiment and theme, filterable by theme, with up to 8 themes and their trends, so the biggest themes become the agenda for next year's planning.
Make it yours
Export the answers before you plan next season, and read them with the people who book carriers, stock and promotions.

Tips for this survey

Small choices that keep people answering and the answers useful.

  1. 01

Wait until the last order lands

Send it once peak orders have been delivered, so late deliveries are counted. Usertick doesn't send on a delivery event, so pick the date yourself and schedule it.

  2. 02

Send it once, to season buyers

Import the customers who ordered during the season as a list, and keep Skip people who already received this survey on so nobody gets it twice.

  3. 03

Run the same survey next year

Pause the survey after the season and run it again next year with the same questions, then set the date range to each season to compare them card by card.

  4. 04

    Hand delivery misses to support

Give each response with a No to question 3 an owner in the inbox, and reply first to the ones that mention a missed gift.
