Visiting us in person survey questions

Visit questions that show what customers notice when they walk in

Ask customers how their visit went, from finding you and getting there to the wait, the staff and the place itself. Each question below comes with when to ask it and what the answer tells you.

What in-store visit survey questions tell you

In-store and visit feedback survey questions ask customers how easy you were to find, how they got there, how long they waited, whether someone was free to help and how the place felt. A visit is judged on things a website never shows, from parking to the waiting area, and these answers point to the ones customers notice.

Ask at the end of the visit with a QR code at the counter, on the receipt or by the exit, or by email the same day for customers who booked. Pick three or four questions, and keep the opening hours and travel questions for an occasional longer round.

Each written answer gets a category, a theme and a sentiment, so comments about waiting, staff and cleanliness sort apart. Put a different tag on the QR code link for each location, and each answer keeps it for workflows, Google Sheets and the API.

The 12 visiting us in person questions, with when to ask each

Grouped by what they tell you. Use them as they are or change the wording.

The visit itself

Start with one rating for the visit, then the wait, the staff and the first impression.

  1. 01Stars

How would you rate your time here today?

One rating for the visit today, in five stars. Put it first on the QR code survey, so even a customer who answers only one question leaves a score.

  2. 04Multiple choice

How long did you wait to be served?

How long the customer waited to be served. Select the longer waits in Results to filter the page and see how those customers rated the visit.

  3. 05Yes / No

Was there someone free to help you?

Whether someone was free to help. A rising share of No answers on certain days points to staffing gaps, and the visit date question shows which days.

  4. 06Emoji

How did the place feel when you walked in?

Five faces for how the place felt on arrival. Results shows the share of each face, and the low faces are worth reading next to the grid on the place itself.

  5. 12Text

What would make a visit better?

What would make a visit better. Each answer gets a theme, so requests about seating, staff or waiting stand out across locations.

Getting there

These show how easy you are to find and reach, which shapes who visits and how often.

  1. 02Customer effort

How easy was it to find us?

A customer effort score for finding you. A low score points to signs, map listings or directions on your website that need fixing.

  2. 03Multiple choice

How did you travel to us?

Every way the customer traveled to you. Results shows bars with each share, which helps when you plan parking, bike racks or a move closer to transit.

  3. 09Ruler

How many minutes did it take you to get here?

How many minutes it took the customer to get to you, up to 60. Results shows the median and the middle half, a picture of how far your customers travel.

The place and the hours

Rate the parts of the place in one grid and check whether your opening hours fit.

  1. 10Matrix

    Rate what you found here

Rates signs, parking, the waiting area and cleanliness in one grid. The heat map shows which part of the place pulls the visit down, with row averages to compare.

  2. 07Multiple choice

How were the opening hours for you?

Whether your opening hours suit the customer, or they need earlier, later or weekend hours. Results shows each share in a donut, which helps before you change your hours.

Visit history

Note how often the customer comes and when they visited, so you can read the other answers by both.

  1. 08Dropdown

How often do you come here?

How often the customer comes, from first time to most days. Selecting an answer in Results filters the page, so you can compare first-time visitors with regulars.

  2. 11Date

    When did you visit?

The date of the visit, picked on a calendar. Use it for surveys answered later from a receipt or an email, so you can match answers to busy days.
