Usertick
Brand guidelines feedback template

Check the brand guidelines work a month into daily use

Three questions for a month after handoff: how complete the guidelines are, how easy they are for the client's team to use day to day and what is missing. Add an open question and Usertick reads every written answer too.

What this brand guidelines survey tells you

A brand guidelines feedback survey asks the people who use the guidelines whether they hold up in daily work. This template asks three questions in about half a minute: how complete the guidelines are, how easy they are to use day to day, and what is missing, from templates to tone of voice examples.

It is written for an email a month after handoff, once the client's team has made real work with the guidelines. Usertick can send it to the client's marketing and design contacts with the first rating inside the email, or you can paste its link into the page or file where the guidelines live. It also runs as a conversation, one question at a time.

Results shows the completeness rating with the share who gave it 4 or 5, the ease of use with the share who found it easy, and bars for each missing piece with the typed Other answers listed. Add an open question if you want reasons in writing, and Usertick reads each answer and files it under a category such as quality of work or scope and changes.

The 3 questions, one by one

What each question asks, why it is there, what it shows you and what to change.

Question 1 of 3 · Stars

How complete are the brand guidelines?

Why ask it
A guide that looked complete at handoff can show its gaps on the first social post. A five-step rating from Very incomplete to Complete shows whether the gaps are minor or real.
What you learn
The average on the 1 to 5 scale, a bar per rating and the share who rated 4 or higher, compared with the period before across your brand projects.
Make it yours
Keep it first, since a star rating sits inside the email and one tap opens the rest.
Question 2 of 3 · Customer effort

How easy are they for your team to use day to day?

Why ask it
Complete and usable differ: a long guide can cover everything and still be hard to use under a deadline. A customer effort scale measures that day-to-day friction.
What you learn
The average on the 1 to 7 scale and the share who found it easy, with a hard-to-easy bar. Select the hard answers to see what those people say is missing.
Make it yours
Send it to the people who make things with the guidelines every week, such as the social media lead and in-house designers.
Question 3 of 3 · Multiple choice · Optional

What's missing?

Why ask it
A list of common gaps makes the answer quick, several can be picked, and Nothing gives a complete guide a one-tap answer.
What you learn
Bars with the share and count for each missing piece, with every typed Other answer listed, so Templates picked by most of the team points to a follow-up job.
Make it yours
Add options for what your brand packages often leave out, such as Email signatures or Presentation slides.

Tips for this survey

Small choices that keep people answering and the answers useful.

  1. 01

    Wait a month

Give the team four weeks of real work with the guidelines. Schedule the send at handoff, since Usertick can schedule it up to 30 days ahead.

  2. 02

Ask the people who use them

Send it to the designers, writers and social media people who make things every week, as well as the brand lead who signed off.

  3. 03

Turn gaps into a follow-up offer

When several people pick the same missing piece, offer to make it. The answers already describe the brief.

  4. 04

Add an open question for reasons

Add Where did the guidelines fall short? at the end when you want written detail, and Usertick reads and files each answer.
