Usertick
eNPS survey template

Track how your team rates you as an employer, with the reason behind every score

Two questions: how likely employees are to recommend working here to a friend, and the main reason for their score. Use it as it is or change any question, and Usertick reads every written answer for you.

What this eNPS survey tells you

An employee NPS survey, or eNPS, asks employees how likely they are to recommend working here to a friend, on a scale from 0 to 10. This template adds the main reason for the score, which tells you why the number moved, and takes about 40 seconds.

It is written for a link shared with the whole company every quarter, with Anonymous responses turned on. Share it by link or QR code, so Usertick stores no user ID, traits or visitor ID with the answers; it keeps the country and a salted hash of the IP address. Usertick can also email it with the score inside the message, but each answer then stays tied to the person's contact. The chat layout asks the same two questions as a conversation, with a short reply after the score.

Every written reason is read as it arrives, in any language, and filed under a category from your list, such as pay and benefits or managers and leadership, with a type and an urgency. Results shows the eNPS against the quarter before, a bar of detractors, passives and promoters, and a score line over time.

The 2 questions, one by one

What each question asks, why it is there, what it shows you and what to change.

Question 1 of 2 · NPS

How likely are you to recommend working here to a friend?

Why ask it
The score is the number you track every quarter: the share of promoters who would recommend you, minus the share of detractors who wouldn't.
What you learn
The eNPS, promoters 9 to 10 minus detractors 0 to 6, with a bar of detractors, passives and promoters, a split per device and a score line over time.
Make it yours
Keep the wording the same every quarter, so the line over time compares like with like, and keep it required so every response counts toward the score.
Question 2 of 2 · Text · Optional

What's the main reason for your score?

Why ask it
The reason turns a score into something to act on, and people give it right after scoring, while the thought is there.
What you learn
Usertick reads each answer, files it under a category and a theme such as pay and benefits or managers and leadership, marks it as praise, a complaint or an idea, and flags the urgent ones. Select detractors in the score chart to read only their reasons.
Make it yours
Keep it optional, so people who don't want to explain still give a score. Read the passives' reasons too, since each passive who becomes a promoter raises the score.

Tips for this survey

Small choices that keep people answering and the answers useful.

  1. 01

    Ask every quarter

Usertick sends no recurring emails, so share the link at the same time each quarter and keep both questions unchanged.

  2. 02

    Read detractors and promoters apart

Select detractors in Results and read their reasons, then do the same for promoters, so you know what to fix and what to protect.

  3. 03

Add a team question with care

A first question that names the team lets you compare scores. Keep teams broad, since a score from a team of three is easy to trace and Usertick has no minimum group size.

  4. 04

Set an alert for a drop

On every plan, a workflow alert posts to Slack or Microsoft Teams when the eNPS falls below a line over 30 days. Rates count once the window has 30 responses.

Frequently asked questions

Every quarter gives you time to act between rounds and see whether the score moves. A big change, such as a reorganization, is a good reason for an extra round.

Any score above zero means more promoters than detractors. Compare your score with your own previous quarters, since the trend and the reasons tell you more than a single number.

With Anonymous responses on and the survey shared by link or QR code, Usertick stores no user ID, traits or visitor ID with the answers, and keeps the country and a salted hash of the IP address. A written reason can still mention details that point to the writer.

Yes, and the score sits inside the email, so one tap answers it. Each answer then stays tied to the person's contact, even with Anonymous responses on, so use the link for an anonymous round.

Read the detractors' reasons, look for the theme that comes up most, and pick one or two changes. Ask again next quarter and see whether the score and that theme move.
