Usertick
Employee pulse survey template

Know how the week went for your team, before small problems grow

Three quick questions on how the week felt, whether people have what they need and feel heard, and one thing to start, stop or keep. Use it as it is or change any question, and Usertick reads every written answer for you.

What this employee pulse survey tells you

An employee pulse survey is a short check you repeat often, so a change in mood or workload shows up while there is still time to act. This template asks three questions in about a minute: how the week felt, four statements on tools, workload, the manager and priorities, and one thing the team should start, stop or keep doing.

It is written for a link you post in your team chat at the end of the week, every week or two. Turn on Anonymous responses in the survey's Settings tab and share it by link or QR code, so Usertick stores no user ID, traits or visitor ID with the answers; it keeps the country and a salted hash of the IP address. The same survey can open as a popup in your internal web app when the Usertick script runs there, or as a conversation, one question at a time.

Every written answer is read as it arrives and filed under a category from your list, such as workload and pace or managers and leadership, with a type and an urgency. Results compares every number with the period before, so a week where the mood or one statement drops is plain to see.

The 3 questions, one by one

What each question asks, why it is there, what it shows you and what to change.

Question 1 of 3 · Mood dial

How was your week at work?

Why ask it
A mood question gives everyone an easy first answer and a reading of the week as a whole, before the detail. Five faces from Rough to Great take one tap.
What you learn
Results shows each face with its share, from Rough to Great, against the period before, so a week where Tiring and Rough grow stands out.
Make it yours
Keep it required and first, so even a person who skips the rest leaves a reading of the week.
Question 2 of 3 · Matrix · Optional

How much do you agree with these statements?

Why ask it
The four statements cover what most often sits behind a hard week: missing tools, too much work, not being heard and unclear priorities. One grid answers all four in seconds.
What you learn
A heat map per statement with its average, so you see which of the four pulls the week down, such as a workload row that sinks while the others hold.
Make it yours
Swap one statement for the topic your team is dealing with, such as a new tool or a reorganization, and keep the other three the same so the trend stays comparable.
Question 3 of 3 · Text · Optional

What's one thing we should start, stop or keep doing?

Why ask it
Start, stop or keep gives people a shape for their answer, so the comments arrive as concrete actions instead of general complaints.
What you learn
Usertick reads each answer, files it under a category and a theme such as workload and pace or tools and processes, marks it as an idea, a complaint or praise, and flags the urgent ones. Results lists the answers with their sentiment and up to 8 themes with their trends.
Make it yours
Read a few answers aloud in the next team meeting and say what you changed, so people see that writing one leads somewhere.

What the answers show

Results turns each question into numbers you can follow week by week.

How much do you agree with these statements?

Each row's answers side by side, so the part that needs work stands out.

Every written answer, read for you

Each answer arrives with its category, theme, type and urgency, so the urgent ones reach your team first.

Tips for this survey

Small choices that keep people answering and the answers useful.

  1. 01

Share the same link each round

Usertick sends no recurring emails, so post the survey link in your team chat every week or two at the same time. Keep the questions the same between rounds, so Results compares each period with the one before.

  2. 02

    Turn on Anonymous responses first

Templates come with the setting off. Turn it on before the first share and use the link or QR code, because a survey sent through Usertick email ties each answer to the person's contact.

  3. 03

    Close the loop every round

Open the next team meeting with the week's mood and one theme from the written answers, and name one thing you will change before the next pulse.

  4. 04

Read the trend over several rounds

One rough week happens to every team. Act when the same statement drops two or three rounds in a row, or when urgent answers start to appear.

Frequently asked questions

Every week or two keeps it current without asking too often. Share the link at the same time each round, for example on Friday afternoon, so every round describes the same kind of week.

No. A survey sent through Usertick email ties each answer to the recipient's contact, even with Anonymous responses on. For an anonymous pulse, paste the link into your own email or team chat, or print the QR code.

With Anonymous responses on and the survey shared by link or QR code, Usertick stores no user ID, traits or visitor ID with the answers, and keeps the country and a salted hash of the IP address. A written answer can still mention details that point to the writer, so tell your team what is stored before the first round.

Select Rough and Tiring in Results to filter the page to those people, then read their written answers and the statements they disagreed with. Raise the theme with the team in the same week and say what you will try.
