Usertick
Remote work survey template

See how remote work is going for your team, from focus time to connection

Four questions on how remote work feels lately, how easily people find focused time, what gets in the way and what would make it better. Use it as it is or change any question, and Usertick reads every written answer for you.

What this remote work survey tells you

A remote work survey asks the people who work from home how it is going and what gets in their way. This template asks four questions in about a minute: how remote work feels lately, how easily they find focused time, the obstacles they hit most, and one thing that would make it better.

It is written for a link you share in your team chat once a quarter. Turn on Anonymous responses in the survey's Settings tab and share it by link or QR code, so Usertick stores no user ID, traits or visitor ID with the answers; it keeps the country and a salted hash of the IP address. The same survey can open as a popup in your internal web app when the Usertick script runs there, or run as a conversation, one question at a time.

Every written answer is read as it arrives and filed under a category from your list, such as tools and processes or team and culture, with a type and an urgency. Results shows the faces for remote work, the average for focus time and the share of each obstacle, each compared with the quarter before.

The 4 questions, one by one

What each question asks, why it is there, what it shows you and what to change.

Question 1 of 4 · Mood dial

How is working remotely going for you lately?

Why ask it
A mood question about remote work as a whole sets the frame and gives a reading you can compare each quarter, before the detail.
What you learn
Each face from Poorly to Very well with its share, against the period before, so a quarter where Not great grows shows at once.
Make it yours
Keep lately in the wording, so people describe the last few weeks rather than the whole year.
Question 2 of 4 · Big scale

How easily can you find focused time when you need it?

Why ask it
Focus time is one of the main reasons people value working from home, and it is the first thing meetings and messages take away.
What you learn
The average on the 1 to 10 scale and a column per step, so you see whether answers bunch at the low end or spread across the scale.
Make it yours
Select the low steps in Results to see which obstacles those people chose in the next question.
Question 3 of 4 · Multiple choice · Optional

What gets in the way most?

Why ask it
Five common obstacles cover meetings, tools, switching off, missing information and feeling cut off, and people can pick more than one or type their own.
What you learn
Bars with the share and count of each obstacle, with typed Other answers listed. Over time, stacked shares show whether a change such as fewer meetings moved the numbers.
Make it yours
Add an obstacle your team talks about, such as working across time zones, and keep the list to five or six.
Question 4 of 4 · Text · Optional

What would make remote work better for you?

Why ask it
An open question catches the practical fixes, such as a better headset, a quiet hour or a clearer handover between time zones.
What you learn
Usertick reads each answer, files it under a category and a theme such as tools and processes or team and culture, marks ideas and complaints, and flags the urgent ones.
Make it yours
Sort the ideas into what you can change this quarter and what needs a budget, and report both back to the team.

What the answers show

Results turns each question into numbers you can follow week by week.

What gets in the way most?

Every written answer, read for you

Each answer arrives with its category, theme, type and urgency, so the urgent ones reach your team first.

Tips for this survey

Small choices that keep people answering and the answers useful.

  1. 01

    Run it every quarter

Usertick sends no recurring emails, so share the link at the start of each quarter and keep the questions the same, so Results compares quarter with quarter.

  2. 02

    Turn on Anonymous responses

Templates come with it off. Turn it on and share the link or QR code, because a survey sent through Usertick email keeps each answer tied to the person's contact.

  3. 03

Add a question on the setup

When part of the team works in the office, add a question on how people work, fully remote or hybrid, and select its answers in Results to compare the two groups.

  4. 04

Fix one obstacle at a time

Pick the obstacle with the largest share, change one habit such as a meeting-free afternoon, and check its share the next quarter.
