Learn how clear and fair your cover feels, after the trip ends

Four questions for after the trip: how clear the policy is, how fair the price feels for the cover, whether the traveler made a claim and how well a claim was handled. Add an open question when you want reasons, and Usertick reads every written answer for you.

What this travel insurance survey tells you

A travel insurance survey asks policyholders about their cover once the trip is over and the policy has either done its job or gone unused. This template takes about 30 seconds: a rating for how clear the cover is, a 1 to 10 score for how fair the price is, whether they claimed on this trip, and how well the claim was handled.

It is written for an email after the trip ends, sent to a list of policies whose travel dates have passed, or as a link in the end of cover email your policy system sends. The first question sits inside the email. The same survey can also open as a popup on your website when customers log in to their policy, or come as a link in your renewal email.

Results shows the share who rated the clarity 4 or 5, the average fairness score with a column per step, the share who made a claim and the claim handling rating, each compared with the period before. Add an open question and every written answer is filed under a category from your list, such as price and fees, with a type, a sentiment and an urgency.

The 4 questions, one by one

What each question asks, why it is there, what it shows you and what to change.

Question 1 of 4 · Stars

How clear is what your policy covers?

Why ask it
Travelers who don't know what their policy covers can't use it, and unclear cover turns into disputes when a claim comes. A 1 to 5 rating shows whether your documents get the cover across.
What you learn
The average rating, a bar per rating and the share who rated 4 or higher, compared with the period before.
Make it yours
Keep it first, since a Stars question sits inside the email, and compare it with the period before after each change to your policy wording.
Question 2 of 4 · Big scale

How fair is the price for the cover you get?

Why ask it
Travelers weigh the price against the cover, and a 1 to 10 scale shows how strongly they feel about the deal in finer steps than a 5-point rating.
What you learn
The average and a column per step from 1 to 10, compared with the period before, so you see whether the scores cluster or split.
Make it yours
Select Yes in question 3 to see whether travelers who used the cover rate the price as fairer than those who didn't.
Question 3 of 4 · Yes / No

Did you make a claim on this trip?

Why ask it
Only some travelers claim, and their view of the policy rests on how it went. One yes or no separates the two groups for every other chart.
What you learn
The share that said yes, compared with the period before. Select Yes to see clarity, fairness and claim handling for claimants alone.
Make it yours
Add a skip so a No ends the survey and only claimants see question 4. Skip logic works on every plan.
Question 4 of 4 · Stars · Optional

If you did, how well was it handled?

Why ask it
A claim is the moment the policy proves its worth, and how it was handled shapes whether the traveler buys from you again.
What you learn
The average rating, a bar per rating and the share who rated 4 or higher, among the travelers who answered it.
Make it yours
Keep any question you add about claims to the handling, since Usertick's terms don't allow health records or medical details in surveys.

Tips for this survey

Small choices that keep people answering and the answers useful.

  1. 01

Show the claim question to claimants only

Add a skip after question 3, so travelers who didn't claim finish after three questions and the handling rating comes only from people who claimed.

  2. 02

    Keep medical details out

Ask how the claim was handled and never about the illness or injury behind it. Usertick's terms don't allow health records or medical details.

  3. 03

    Ask what was unclear

Add an optional open question after question 1 about what was unclear in the policy. Usertick files each answer under a theme, so confusing clauses show as a pattern.

  4. 04

    Read fairness before setting prices

Look at the fairness score and its change against the period before when you review next season's prices, and again after each price change.

Four or fewer. This template takes about 30 seconds, and with a skip after question 3, travelers who didn't claim answer three.

Usertick doesn't send after an event in your policy system. Import each week's ended trips from a CSV file and send to that list, or put the survey's link in the email your policy system sends at the end of cover.

Rewrite the summary of cover travelers see when they buy, then compare the clarity rating with the period before. An open question about what was unclear shows which clauses to start with.

Keep the survey to how clear, fair and well handled the cover was. Usertick's terms don't allow health records or medical details, and the claim file already holds the amounts.
