Tour feedback survey template

Hear how the tour and the guide did, on the evening of the tour

Five questions for the evening after a tour: overall satisfaction, a rating for the guide, the pace, what mattered most and what to add or skip next time. Use it as it is or change any question, and Usertick reads every written answer for you.

What this tour feedback survey tells you

A tour feedback survey asks guests about the tour while the day is still vivid. This template takes about a minute and a quarter: a rating for the tour, a separate rating for the guide, whether the pace was right, a ranking of stories, pace, food stops, photo stops and group size, and one open question about what to add or skip.

It is written for an email the evening of the tour, sent to the guests on that day's booking list. It also works as a QR code the guide shows at the last stop or prints on a card, which opens the hosted survey page on the guest's phone. To compare guides or tours, add a question that names them or run one survey per tour, since Results doesn't split answers by link tag.

Every written answer is read as it arrives and filed under a category from your list, such as staff and service or booking and reservations, with a type and a sentiment. Results shows the share of guests who rated the tour 4 or 5 stars, the guide's average, the split of pace answers and the average place of each part of the tour, each compared with the period before.

The 5 questions, one by one

What each question asks, why it is there, what it shows you and what to change.

Question 1 of 5 · Stars

Overall, how satisfied were you with the tour?

Why ask it
The overall rating covers the experience as a whole, including the meeting point, the route and the stops. It gives you a CSAT for every tour you run.
What you learn
The average rating, a bar per star and the share who rated 4 or higher, compared with the period before.
Make it yours
Keep it first. A Stars question sits inside the email, so guests answer with one tap and go on to the rest.
Question 2 of 5 · Stars

How would you rate your guide?

Why ask it
Guests often rate a tour and its guide differently: a great guide can save a rainy day, and a flat one can dull a famous sight. A separate question keeps the two apart.
What you learn
The guide's average, a bar per rating and the share of 4 or higher. Select a low guide rating to narrow the page to those guests and read what they wrote.
Make it yours
Add a dropdown with your guides' first names before this question, so Results can show each guide's rating on its own.
Question 3 of 5 · Multiple choice

The pace of the tour was

Why ask it
Pace decides whether a tour feels rushed or long, even when the content is good. Three options give a clear direction: slow down, speed up or keep it as it is.
What you learn
A donut with the share and count of each answer, compared with the period before. Select Too fast to see how those guests rated the tour and what they want to skip.
Make it yours
Read it by tour. A pace that suits a walking tour can feel rushed on a food tour, so name the tour in the survey when you run several.
Question 4 of 5 · Ranking · Optional

Rank what mattered most to you

Why ask it
Ranking makes guests choose between stories, stops and group size, which shows what to protect when a tour runs late and something has to give.
What you learn
Results shows the average place of each item, compared with the period before, so you can see whether photo stops or food stops matter more to your guests.
Make it yours
When you add more items, use Rank only the top to ask for the top three, so guests on a phone finish quickly.
Question 5 of 5 · Text · Optional

What should we add or skip next time?

Why ask it
Guests who just finished know which stop dragged and which sight they missed. Asking for a change turns opinions into something you can try on next week's tours.
What you learn
Usertick reads each answer as it arrives, files it under a category and a theme from your list and marks it as an idea, a complaint or praise. Results lists every answer with its sentiment and shows up to eight themes with their trends.
Make it yours
Share the ideas with your guides each week, and try one change on a single tour before you change them all.

Tips for this survey

Small choices that keep people answering and the answers useful.

  1. 01

    Send it the same evening

Import the day's guest list as a contact list after the tour and send at once, or schedule the send for early evening, before the next day's plans take over.

  2. 02

Show a QR code at the last stop

Print the survey's QR code on a card the guide hands out at the end. Guests who booked through a reseller aren't on your email list, and the code reaches them too.

  3. 03

Name the guide and the tour

Add a dropdown for the guide or the tour at the start, so Results can narrow every chart to one guide or one route.

  4. 04

    Pass praise on to guides

Read the praise for each guide every week and share it. On every plan, a workflow can post each answer marked as praise to a Slack or Microsoft Teams channel your guides read.
