Marketplace and sellers survey questions

Marketplace questions that show which sellers buyers trust

Ask buyers how each seller did, from the listing and the reply time to shipping and packaging. Each question below comes with when to ask it and what the answer tells you.

What marketplace survey questions tell you

Marketplace survey questions ask buyers how a seller handled their order and how much they trust the sellers on your marketplace overall. One poor seller can cost you the buyer as well as the sale, and these answers show which sellers need a word and which signals help buyers choose well.

Ask the seller questions a few days after delivery, with a link in your order emails that carries the seller as a tag, so each answer stays tied to them. Pick four or five per order. Ask the questions about trust across the marketplace less often, as a separate survey.

Each written answer gets a category, a theme, a type such as complaint or praise, and a sentiment, and each response an urgency, so a wrong item or an unanswered message reaches your team quickly. On every plan, workflows can post those answers to Slack or Microsoft Teams, or add them to Google Sheets with the seller tag.

The 14 marketplace and sellers questions, with when to ask each

Grouped by what they tell you. Use them as they are or change the wording.

How this seller did

Rate the seller on the order just delivered, then let the buyer say what others should know.

  1. 01Matrix

    Rate this seller on each

Rates the seller on communication, shipping speed, accuracy and packaging in one grid. The heat map shows each row with its average, so you can see which part of a seller's service needs work.

  2. 03Stars

    How accurate was the listing?

A star rating for how well the listing matched the item. Results shows the average and the share who gave four or more. Listings with low ratings are the ones to review first.

  3. 02Yes / No

Did the seller reply within a day?

A yes or no on reply time. Results shows the share of Yes, and with a seller tag on the survey link the answers carry the seller into Google Sheets for a comparison seller by seller.

  4. 04Multiple choice

What went wrong with the seller, if anything?

One answer for what went wrong, with the first option for buyers who had no problem. The donut shows the share of each problem, and canceled orders or extra fees are worth raising with the seller the same week.

  5. 05Yes / No

Would you buy from this seller again?

A yes or no for the seller's repeat business. Select No in Results to filter the page and read what those buyers said about communication and shipping.

  6. 06Text

What should other buyers know about this seller?

An open question in the buyer's own words. Each answer arrives with a sentiment and a theme, so praise and warnings about a seller are easy to separate before you share them.

Problems and proof

Show these with logic only to buyers who had a problem, so disputes come with the details and a way to reach the buyer.

  1. 07Customer effort

How easy was it to resolve an issue with the seller?

A customer effort score for sorting out a problem with the seller. Show it with logic only to buyers who reported one. A low average means your dispute steps need attention as much as the seller does.

  2. 13File upload

Upload proof of purchase for this item

Proof of purchase attached to the answer, for buyers raising a dispute. Show it with logic only after a problem. File upload is on every plan, 1 per survey on Free, and the files appear in a gallery in Results.

  3. 14Contact

How can the seller reach you?

Collects a name and email for the seller to follow up. Ask it only after a problem, and say in the question who will see it. Results lists the contacts in a table.

Trust in the marketplace

Ask how buyers judge sellers in general, to decide which signals to show on every listing.

  1. 08Big scale

How much do you trust sellers on our marketplace?

Trust in the marketplace's sellers as a whole, on a scale of 1 to 10. Ask it a few times a year as its own survey and compare each Results card with the period before.

  2. 09Multiple choice

What helps you trust a seller?

Buyers pick every signal that helps them trust a seller. Bars show each share, a guide to which badges, reviews or return terms to show on every listing.

  3. 12This or that

When two listings are similar you pick

Two pairs: cheaper or better rated, and faster shipping or a closer seller. The split bar per pair shows what buyers weigh when listings look alike, a guide for how you rank search results.

How buyers find sellers

Two facts that put the other answers in context: how the buyer found this seller and how many they have used.

  1. 10Dropdown

How did you find this seller?

Where the buyer found this seller, from search to a promotion. Results shows the share of each, so you can see whether promoted sellers score as well as the ones buyers find on their own.

  2. 11Number

How many different sellers have you bought from here?

How many different sellers the buyer has used. Results shows the median and the middle half. Buyers who have used many sellers have more to compare against, so read their trust scores closely.

Tips for asking about marketplace and sellers

Small choices that get honest, useful answers.

  1. 01

Tag every link with the seller

Add the seller to the survey link as a tag, so every answer carries it into workflows, Google Sheets and the API.

  2. 02

    Ask after delivery

Send the seller questions a few days after the order arrives, when the buyer knows whether the item matched the listing.

  3. 03

    Ask about trust separately

Keep the questions about the marketplace as a whole for a separate survey a few times a year, so the seller survey stays short.

  4. 04

Act on problems the same day

Give every wrong item, missing reply or extra fee an owner in the inbox, and contact the seller before the buyer opens a dispute.
