Wholesale and bulk orders survey questions

Wholesale questions that keep trade buyers ordering from you

Ask trade buyers how their orders arrive, how easy reordering is and how you compare with their other suppliers. Each question below comes with when to ask it and what the answer tells you.

What wholesale survey questions tell you

Wholesale survey questions ask trade buyers how their orders arrive, how easy it is to reorder, how your prices and lead times compare with other suppliers and what slows their team down. A trade account is worth many retail orders, and these answers show what would keep it with you when another supplier calls.

Ask the order questions after a delivery, with a link in your delivery confirmation or a QR code on the delivery note, and the account questions once or twice a year by email. Ask the people who do the work: the buyer who places orders, the person who approves spend and the team that uses the goods. Four or five questions per survey is enough.

Each written answer gets a category, a theme, a type such as complaint or idea, and a sentiment, and each response an urgency. On every plan, workflows can send answers to HubSpot for the account manager, and post incomplete orders to Slack or Microsoft Teams.

The 13 wholesale and bulk orders questions, with when to ask each

Grouped by what they tell you. Use them as they are or change the wording.

How the order arrived

Two questions for each delivery, answered by the person who unpacks it.

  1. 01Yes / No

Did the order arrive complete and in one delivery?

A yes or no on whether the order arrived complete and in one delivery. Ask it with each delivery. Select No in Results to read those answers, and give each an owner before the buyer chases.

  2. 13Signature

Sign to confirm the delivery note

A signature to confirm the delivery note, collected on a phone or tablet at the door. Signature is on every plan, 1 per survey on Free, and Results shows each one in a gallery of files.

How ordering works

Ask how buyers place orders and what slows them down, before you change the trade portal.

  1. 04Dropdown

How do you place most of your orders?

How the buyer places most orders, from the trade portal to a rep. Results shows the share of each, and a large share by email or phone tells you the portal isn't doing the job yet.

  2. 07Customer effort

How easy is it to reorder what you bought last time?

A customer effort score for reordering, the task trade buyers repeat most. A low average points at a missing order history or a slow way to rebuild an order.

  3. 03Multiple choice

What would make ordering in bulk easier?

Buyers pick every change that would help, from a saved order list to live stock by warehouse. Bars show each share, a ranked list for your trade portal.

  4. 10Text

What slows your team down when they order from us?

An open question for what slows ordering down. Each answer arrives with a theme and a type, so problems with the portal, invoices or stock are easy to filter.

The account and the relationship

Ask who is answering and how the account feels, so each answer can be read by role and account size.

  1. 02Multiple choice

What is your part in the buying process?

The buyer's part in the process, from placing orders to approving spend. The donut shows the share for each, and selecting a role filters the page to see how each group rates you.

  2. 06Stars

How would you rate your account manager?

A star rating for the account manager. Results shows the average and a bar per rating. Ask it once or twice a year, so each buyer judges the relationship over time.

  3. 08NPS

How likely are you to recommend us to another buyer?

A Net Promoter style score for recommending you to another buyer. Results shows promoters, passives and detractors, and the comparison with the period before tracks your accounts over the year.

  4. 11Number

How many units do you order in a normal month?

Units ordered in a normal month, as a number. Results shows the median and the middle half. Read the other answers by account size, since large accounts carry most of the volume.

How you compare

Set your prices, lead times and range against the other suppliers buyers use.

  1. 05Multiple choice

How do our trade prices compare with your other suppliers?

Five steps from much better to much worse. The donut shows how buyers see your trade prices, and the comparison with the period before shows whether a price change moved them.

  2. 12Matrix

Rate us against your other suppliers

Price, lead time, order accuracy and payment terms, each against other suppliers. The heat map shows where you fall behind, with an average for each row.

  3. 09Text

Which product line should we widen for trade buyers?

An open question for the product line trade buyers want widened. Filter by theme to count the requests before you plan the next range.

Tips for asking about wholesale and bulk orders

Small choices that get honest, useful answers.

  1. 01

    Ask the right person

Send the account questions to the person who places orders and the one who approves spend, and ask which part each one plays.

  2. 02

Put a QR code on the delivery note

A code on the paperwork reaches the person who unpacks the order, the one who knows whether it arrived complete.

  3. 03

Ask about the account twice a year

Keep the account manager and recommendation questions to a survey once or twice a year, so every delivery survey stays short.

  4. 04

Tag each account on the link

Add the account to the survey link as a tag, so each answer carries it into workflows, Google Sheets and the API.
