Training questions that show whether the course changed the work
Ask employees how a course went and whether they use what they learned. Each question below comes with when to ask it and what the answer tells you.
What training course feedback questions tell you
Training course feedback survey questions ask employees whether a course was worth their time: how useful it was, how the trainer, materials and pace worked, how hard it felt and whether they have used the new skill in their job. The second part matters most, since a course people enjoyed and never used changes nothing.
Ask right after the course about the course itself, and about four weeks later about whether the skill is in use. Pick five or six questions the first time and two or three for the follow-up, and share the link at the end of the session or in your own follow-up email. A QR code on the last slide works for classes in a room.
Each written answer is read as it arrives and filed under a category and a theme from your own list, with a sentiment and an urgency. The requests for the next course become a ranked list for your learning plan.

The 13 training courses questions, with when to ask each
Grouped by what they tell you. Use them as they are or change the wording.
The course itself
Ask these right after the course: usefulness, the grid of trainer, materials, pace and examples, how hard it was, how long it took and how it felt.
- 13Emoji
How did the course feel overall?
How the course felt overall, on a row of faces. Ask it first, so people who stop early still leave a feeling to read beside the usefulness rating.
- 01Stars
How useful was the course you just finished?
Five stars for how useful the course was, asked right after it ends. Results shows the average and the share who rated 4 or higher, so you can compare courses and trainers.
- 03Matrix
Rate the course on each
Rates the trainer, materials, pace and examples in one grid. The heat map shows which part of the course to rework, with a row average for each.
- 11Multiple choice
How hard was the course for you?
Difficulty on a five-step scale from far too hard to far too easy. Results shows the share of each; when most people answer about right, the level fits the group.
- 09Ruler
How many hours did the course take?
Hours the course took, on a ruler from 0 to 40. Results shows the median and the middle half; compare it with the planned length to see where courses run over.
Using what was learned
Ask these about four weeks later, to see whether the skill is in use and what got in the way.
- 02Yes / No
Have you used what you learned in your job yet?
A yes or no on using the new skill. Ask it about four weeks later, and select No in Results to see whether those people also report little time for learning.
- 07Big scale
How confident do you feel using the new skill?
Confidence using the new skill, from 1 to 10. Ask it right after and again a month later; Results compares each card with the period before, so you see whether confidence grows.
- 08Text
What stopped you finishing the course sooner?
Asks what slowed people down on the course. Answers point to time, workload or the format, and the themes show which one to fix first.
How people learn here
These questions show how much time people get, how they like to learn and who suggests courses, to plan the format of future training.
- 04Multiple choice
How much time do you get for learning in a normal month?
Learning time in a normal month, from none to a day or more. Results shows the share of each; read it with the question on what stopped people finishing sooner.
- 06Multiple choice
How do you prefer to learn?
Lets employees tick every way they like to learn. Results shows a bar per format, which helps you choose between live classes, videos, reading and projects.
- 10Dropdown
Who suggested this course?
Who suggested the course. Select each answer in Results to compare usefulness between courses people chose and courses their role requires.
What comes next
End with the next course people want and a button to continue the track, so a good course leads straight to the next one.
- 05Text
What course should we run next?
An open question for the next course. The themes in Results group similar requests, so the most requested topic is easy to spot.
- 12Call to action
Want to keep going with the next course in this track?
A button that opens the next course in the track. Put it at the end, and use logic to skip it for people who gave the course a low rating.
Tips for asking about training courses
Small choices that get honest, useful answers.
- 01
Ask twice about each course
Ask about the course right after it ends, and about using the skill about four weeks later. The second answer tells you whether the course worked.
- 02
Use the last slide
Put the survey's QR code on the final slide of a session in a room, so people answer before they leave.
- 03
Protect learning time
When many people report no time for learning, agree a monthly allowance with managers before you add more courses.
- 04
Let requests shape the plan
Sort the next course requests by theme each quarter, and tell employees which ones you picked.
