Usertick
Website launch survey template

Hear how the new site landed, a week after it goes live

Four questions for a week after launch: how satisfied the client is with the new website, how smoothly launch day went, how confident their team is editing it and what people are saying. Usertick reads every written answer and flags the urgent ones.

What this website launch survey tells you

A website launch survey asks the client how the new site landed, once it has met real visitors. This template asks four questions in under a minute: a rating for the new website, a rating for launch day, a 1 to 10 score for how confident their team is editing it, and what people are saying about it.

It is written for an email a week after launch, when the first reactions are in and the team has tried to edit a page. Usertick can send it to the client's team with the first rating inside the email, or you can paste its link into your launch recap or the handover document. It also runs as a conversation, one question at a time.

Each answer to the last question is read as it arrives and filed under a category such as quality of work, deadlines and delivery or communication, with a type and an urgency. Results shows both ratings with the share who gave 4 or 5 and the editing confidence as an average with a column per step, compared with the period before.

The 4 questions, one by one

What each question asks, why it is there, what it shows you and what to change.

Question 1 of 4 · Stars

Overall, how satisfied are you with your new website?

Why ask it
The overall rating is the client's verdict on the project's main deliverable, given after a week of living with it.
What you learn
The average on the 1 to 5 scale, a bar per rating and the share who rated 4 or higher, compared with the period before across your launches.
Make it yours
Keep it first, since a star rating sits inside the email and one tap opens the rest of the survey.
Question 2 of 4 · Stars

How smoothly did launch day go?

Why ask it
A rough launch day can color the whole project, even when the site is good. Rating it apart tells you whether to fix the site or the launch process.
What you learn
The average and the share who rated 4 or higher, with a bar per rating. Select the low ratings to read what those clients say people are telling them.
Make it yours
Walk through any low launch rating with your developers and update your launch checklist the same week.
Question 3 of 4 · Big scale

How confident is your team editing the site?

Why ask it
A site the client's team can't edit turns into a stream of small support requests. A 1 to 10 score shows who needs more training before the handover ends.
What you learn
The average on the 1 to 10 scale and a column per step, so a spread from 3 to 9 shows that some editors need help and others don't.
Make it yours
Offer a short training session to anyone who answers 5 or lower, and record it for editors who join later.
Question 4 of 4 · Text · Optional

What are people saying about the new site?

Why ask it
The client hears from customers, staff and partners, and this question brings that word of mouth to you.
What you learn
Usertick reads each answer as it arrives, files it under a category and a theme from your list, marks it as praise, a complaint or a bug, and flags the urgent ones, in any language.
Make it yours
Ask permission before you use a positive answer in a case study, and pass every bug to your developers the same day.

Tips for this survey

Small choices that keep people answering and the answers useful.

  1. 01

    Wait a week after launch

Launch day is too early for a verdict. A week later the client has seen the first numbers, heard from customers and tried to edit a page.

  2. 02

Ask editors as well as the sponsor

The person who signed off sees the result, and the people who update pages see the editing side. Send it to both.

  3. 03

    Route bugs the same day

Usertick marks answers that describe a bug and flags the urgent ones. On every plan, a workflow posts them to Slack or Microsoft Teams or sends them to Jira or Linear.

  4. 04

    Ask the site's visitors next

Once the site is live, add the Usertick script to it and run a short popup for visitors, so the client hears from the people the site was built for.
