Usertick
Feature satisfaction survey template

See which parts of your product work, and where users would spend the next fix

Three questions: satisfaction with five parts of your product, 100 points split across what to improve first, and what is missing. Usertick reads every answer about what is missing and groups it by theme.

What this feature satisfaction survey tells you

A feature satisfaction survey rates the parts of your product one by one, so a general score doesn't hide a weak spot. This template asks users to rate speed, reliability, design and ease of use, reporting and customer support, to divide 100 points across what you should improve first, and to say what is missing that would make them use the product more. It takes about 85 seconds.

It is written for an email to active users twice a year, a few weeks before you plan the next half of your roadmap. Send it to a list now or schedule it up to 30 days ahead. The same survey runs at a link you share in your product newsletter, or as a conversation that asks one question at a time.

Results shows a heat map of satisfaction for each part with row averages, the average points each part received, and every answer about what is missing with its theme and sentiment, each against the period before. Read the first two together: a part with low satisfaction and many points is the clearest next fix.

The 3 questions, one by one

What each question asks, why it is there, what it shows you and what to change.

Question 1 of 3 · Matrix · Optional

How satisfied are you with each of these?

Why ask it
Rating five parts side by side shows where satisfaction drops, which one overall score would blur. A five-point scale from very dissatisfied to very satisfied keeps each row quick, and on phones the matrix shows one row at a time.
What you learn
A heat map per row with the row averages, against the period before, so a part that slipped since the last round stands out.
Make it yours
Rename the rows to the parts of your product, such as Mobile layout or Integrations, and add a Not applicable column for parts some users never touch.
Question 2 of 3 · Points allocation · Optional

Divide 100 points across what we should improve first

Why ask it
Satisfaction shows what is weak, and points show what users want fixed. A part can rate low and still get few points when users rarely need it.
What you learn
The average points per part, against the period before. Compare it with the heat map: the part with low satisfaction and the most points is the one to fix first.
Make it yours
Keep the same five parts as the matrix rows, so each row has a matching bucket.
Question 3 of 3 · Text · Optional

What's missing that would make you use the product more?

Why ask it
Users name what would bring them back more often, such as an integration, an export or a report, in their own words.
What you learn
Each answer with its sentiment and theme, filterable by theme, with up to 8 themes and their trends. Usertick marks ideas, bugs and complaints, so feature requests are easy to pull out.
Make it yours
On every plan, a workflow can create one Jira or Linear issue per theme, so requests reach the backlog already grouped.

What the answers show

Results turns each question into numbers you can follow week by week.

How satisfied are you with each of these?

Each row's answers side by side, so the part that needs work stands out.

Every written answer, read for you

Each answer arrives with its category, theme, type and urgency, so the urgent ones reach your team first.

Tips for this survey

Small choices that keep people answering and the answers useful.

  1. 01

    Send it before planning

Time the survey two to four weeks before you plan the next half, so the answers are in when priorities are set.

  2. 02

    Ask people who use it

Send it to users who were active in the last month. People who stopped using the product belong in a separate survey about why they left, since they can't rate today's speed or reporting.

  3. 03

    Keep the parts the same

Use the same rows and buckets from round to round, so each part's average can be compared with the period before.

  4. 04

    Tell users what you built

When a top request ships, write to the users who asked for it. Each answer sent by email is tied to its contact, so you know whom to tell, and a short note that it shipped because they asked is enough.

Frequently asked questions

The five to seven areas users meet most, named the way users name them. Keep the same list in the ratings and in the points question.

Ratings show what users are unhappy with, and points show what they most want fixed. Together they tell you which change matters most to the people answering.

Yes, on every plan. A workflow creates a Jira or Linear issue for each response or for each theme, with the answers in the description. A workflow can also post them to Slack or Microsoft Teams.

Every part rated satisfied or better on average, with points spread across the parts. When one part takes most of the points, you have a clear next fix.
