Business traveler hotel survey template

Find out whether your rooms work as an office, from the guests who worked in them

Three questions for guests on a business rate: how the Wi-Fi rated, how the desk and chair, quiet, lighting and outlets worked, and whether they could take video calls comfortably. Add an open question for comments, and Usertick reads every written answer for you.

What this business traveler hotel survey tells you

A business traveler hotel survey asks whether a guest could get work done in your rooms, which weighs on whether they book you for the next trip. This template takes under a minute: a rating for the Wi-Fi, a grid for the desk and chair, quiet, lighting and power outlets, and a yes or no on taking video calls comfortably.

It is written for an email after check-out to guests who booked a business rate, sent by Usertick to the list you import as contacts, where the Wi-Fi rating can be answered inside the message. The same survey runs as a QR code on the desk card next to the Wi-Fi password, or as a link in your corporate booking confirmations.

The template has no open question, so add one when you want comments; Usertick then reads every written answer and files it under a category from your list, such as room and facilities. Results shows the Wi-Fi rating with the share who rated 4 or higher, a heat map for the four parts of the room and the share who could take video calls, each against the period before.

The 3 questions, one by one

What each question asks, why it is there, what it shows you and what to change.

Question 1 of 3 · Stars

How would you rate the Wi-Fi?

Why ask it
For a guest who works from the room, the Wi-Fi decides the stay. A rating from poor to excellent gives you a number to take to your network provider.
What you learn
The average out of 5, a bar for each rating and the share who rated 4 or higher, against the period before. Select the low ratings to see whether those guests could take video calls.
Make it yours
Add a question for the floor or the room type, so a weak spot in the building shows up in Results.
Question 2 of 3 · Matrix · Optional

How well did your room work as an office?

Why ask it
A room can have fast Wi-Fi and still be a poor office: a dressing table instead of a desk, one outlet behind the bed, dim light or noise from the corridor. Four rows find the gap.
What you learn
A heat map with a row for each part and its average, so power outlets scoring well below the desk points to a cheap fix such as a charging strip.
Make it yours
Add a row for a printer, a meeting room or the lobby workspace if you offer them, and turn on the Not applicable column for guests who didn't use them.
Question 3 of 3 · Yes / No

Could you take video calls comfortably?

Why ask it
Video calls test everything at once: upload speed, quiet, light and a place to sit. A yes or no tells you whether a business guest could do the part of the job that needs the room most.
What you learn
The share who said yes, compared with the period before. Select No to see which rows of the grid those guests rated lowest.
Make it yours
Add skip logic so a No goes to an open question about what got in the way, such as the connection, the noise or the light.

Tips for this survey

Small choices that keep people answering and the answers useful.

  1. 01

Send it to business guests only

Import the guests who booked a business or corporate rate as their own contact list, so answers from leisure guests don't blur the picture.

  2. 02

Put the code by the Wi-Fi password

Print the QR code on the desk card that shows the Wi-Fi details, so guests can rate the connection while they are using it.

  3. 03

Share the Wi-Fi score with your provider

Send the trend to your network provider each month, with the share of guests who couldn't take video calls.

  4. 04

Fix the room, then tell travel managers

When a change lifts the scores against the period before, mention it in your next conversation with corporate travel managers.
