Usertick
Review request survey template

Invite reviews after a good moment, and learn what to fix from the rest

Two questions and a closing screen: a rating of the experience, one thing to do better for anyone who rates 3 or lower, and a button to leave a public review that every customer sees. Use it as it is or change any question, and Usertick reads every written answer for you.

What this review request survey tells you

A review request survey asks customers to rate their experience and then invites them to leave a public review. This template takes under a minute: a five-star rating, one thing you could do better for anyone who rates 3 or lower, and a closing screen with a button to your review page. Every customer reaches that screen whatever their rating, so the invitation never depends on the score.

It is written for a popup on your website after a success moment, such as a finished project or a third order. From Starter, or on 1 survey on Free, open it from a custom event your site fires at that moment; on every plan, target the page that confirms it. It also goes out as an email that Usertick sends to a contact list, with the star rating inside the email.

Usertick reads each written answer, files it under a category from your list, such as support and service or ease of use, and gives it a type and an urgency. Results shows the average rating with the share who rated 4 or higher, and how many people selected the review button. Select the ratings of 3 or lower to read only the improvement answers, and compare the button count with the period before after you change where it points.

The 2 questions, one by one

What each question asks, why it is there, what it shows you and what to change.

Question 1 of 2 · Stars

How would you rate your experience with us?

Why ask it
A rating first lets you hear from everyone, including the customers who never write a public review, and a 4 or 5 skips straight to the review screen, so satisfied customers get there in one tap.
What you learn
The average on five stars, a bar per rating and the share who rated 4 or higher, against the period before.
Make it yours
Keep the rule as it is, so both paths end on the review screen and every customer can leave a review.
Question 2 of 2 · Text · Optional

What's one thing we could do better?

Why ask it
Customers who rate 3 or lower have something specific in mind. Asking for one thing gets it without a long complaint form, and the review screen still follows.
What you learn
Usertick reads each answer, gives it a category, a type and an urgency, and lists the answers filterable by theme, so the same problem from several customers groups together.
Make it yours
On every plan, post these answers to Slack or Microsoft Teams with a workflow, so someone follows up on the problem soon after it arrives.

Tips for this survey

Small choices that keep people answering and the answers useful.

  1. 01

    Ask at the success moment

Open it when something just went well, such as a delivered project or a repeat order. From Starter, or on 1 survey on Free, a custom event with calls needed set to 3 opens it on a customer's third order in that browser.

  2. 02

Show the review button to everyone

Keep both paths ending on the review screen, so the invitation to review never depends on the rating.

  3. 03

    Link straight to the form

Point the button at the page where customers write the review, so leaving one takes a single step.

  4. 04

    Reply to the lower ratings

Give each answer to question 2 an owner in the inbox, and fix what it names before you ask that customer again.
