Parent questions that show how families see the school
Ask parents and guardians how the term went, from progress updates to how easy it is to reach a teacher. Each question below comes with when to ask it and what the answer tells you.
What parent survey questions tell you
Parent survey questions ask families how the school looks from home: communication, safety, teaching, progress updates and how happy their child seems. Parents notice things staff don't, such as a newsletter nobody reads or a teacher who is hard to reach, and the answers show which ones to fix first.
Ask once a term, a week or two before the end, when parents can judge the whole term. Send the link by email or in the school's own app, put a QR code on the table at parent-teacher conferences, and pick six to eight questions. Keep the signature and photo consent for a separate form at the start of the year.
Each written answer is read as it arrives and given a category from your list, such as communication or safety, with a sentiment and an urgency, in any language a family writes in. Give each response an owner in the inbox, so a worry about a child reaches the right teacher.

- 01Stars

- 11Emoji

- 04Multiple choice

- 10Customer effort
How easy is it to reach a teacher?

Changes and permissions
The open question, plus the signature and photo consent, which suit a start-of-year form better than a term survey.
- 06Text

Tips for asking about parents and guardians
Small choices that get honest, useful answers.
- 01
Ask near the end of term
Send the survey a week or two before term ends, so parents can judge the whole term before the break.
- 02
Reach families where they are
Send the link by email, add it to the school's own app or newsletter, and put a QR code on the table at parent-teacher conferences.
- 03
Keep consent forms separate
Ask for signatures and photo consent on a start-of-year form. Mixed into a term survey, they make an opinion survey feel like paperwork.
- 04
Share what changed
Tell parents in the next newsletter what the school changed after the last survey, so they see that their answers were read.
