Course evaluations students answer while the course can still change

Ask students by email, with a QR code in the last minutes of class or on your own learning site, before the final grades. Usertick reads every written answer, files it under course content, teaching or assessments, and gets it to the person who teaches the course.

Feedback while there is still time to act

A course evaluation survey sent after the final exam reaches students who have already moved on, and its answers arrive too late to help them. Ask at the midpoint and again in the last week, while the pace, the materials and the support can still change for the class that answered.

With Usertick, the evaluation goes to each class by email with the first rating inside the message, or opens from a QR code on your final slide. On a learning site you run, a short check can open when a learner finishes a module, on 1 survey on Free and on every survey from Starter.

Every written answer is read as it arrives and filed under course content, teaching, platform, pace or assessments, in whatever language the student wrote it. Results shows each score against the period before, and workflows send what needs attention to the course lead in Microsoft Teams or Slack.

Ask at the moments that shape a course

From the first application to the last week of class.

In the last week, by email

Send the evaluation to each class before final grades, with the overall rating inside the email. Selecting a star opens the rest of the survey with that rating kept.

In the last minutes of class

Put the survey's QR code on your final slide and give students two minutes to answer on their phones, while the session is still fresh.

Halfway through, on the course page

Post the mid-course check in your learning platform's announcements with a tag for each course in the link, so every answer shows which course it came from.

On your own learning site

Add the script tag to a learning site you run, and open a short check when your site reports a finished module, or when a learner has watched most of a lesson video in your site's own player. Starter and above, and 1 survey on Free.

Once a place is confirmed

Ask new students how easy it was to apply and enroll, and which step was unclear, on the day their place is confirmed.

Answers filed the way a school works

When you choose Education at sign-up, Usertick files each written answer under course content, teaching and tutors, assessments and grades, schedule and pace, platform and access or student support, with a theme, a type and an urgency. Rename categories and themes on any plan, and add your own within your plan's limit, from 5 categories on Free to 30 on Business.

Get each answer to the person who teaches

Workflows, the inbox and reports sort answers by course, category and urgency.

Platform problems to the right team

Post every answer filed under platform and access to your learning technology channel in Microsoft Teams or Slack, with buttons to assign it. Every plan.

Students who need help, seen the same day

When an answer reads as urgent, such as a student who is weeks behind, Usertick notifies the course lead in the app, in Teams or in Slack. Every plan.

An owner for every comment

Assign answers to the course lead, add a note that mentions a colleague, and move each one from Open to Resolved.

Every course side by side

Put the overall rating of each course on one dashboard card, and see at a glance which courses sit below the rest.

A weekly report for each department

Send a course's results or a dashboard as a PDF to its teaching staff by email, or to a Teams or Slack channel, every week or month. Pro and above.

Anonymous or named, decided for each survey

Choose whether answers carry the student's name before the survey goes out.

Anonymous evaluations

Turn on Anonymous responses and share the survey by link or QR code, and Usertick stores no student ID, traits or browser ID with the answers. An evaluation emailed through Usertick stays tied to each student's contact, so share anonymous ones as a link.

Named check-ins you can follow up

On a learning site you run, pass each signed-in learner's ID, course and cohort with Usertick.identify(), so the course lead can reach the student who asked for help.

Works with the tools your staff already use

Post answers to Microsoft Teams or Slack, add them to a Google Sheet, and reach Salesforce, Notion or Airtable through Zapier, on every plan. Answers from applicants can also update their contact in HubSpot.

How colleges and course providers start with Usertick

Four steps from the first evaluation to answers with an owner.

  1. 1

    Choose Education at sign-up

Pick Education as your sector, and written answers are filed under course content, teaching, platform, pace, assessments, fees or student support from the first response.

  2. 2

    Start from a template

Pick Course evaluation, Mid-course check or After-class check, or describe your course to Create with AI and get a first draft.

  3. 3

    Choose how students get it

Import each class list as a CSV and send it by email, show the QR code in class, or add the script tag to your learning site.

  4. 4

Send answers to the people who teach

Add a workflow that posts urgent answers to the course lead, and schedule a weekly report for each department.

How to get course feedback you can use

Six habits that keep evaluations short and the answers specific.

  1. 01

    Ask before the course ends

Run a short check at the midpoint and the full evaluation in the last week, before final grades, so the answers can still change something for the students who gave them.

  2. 02

Keep it to a few questions

One overall rating, two or three choices about pace and workload, and one open question fit in the last minutes of a session.

  3. 03

Keep the core questions every term

Ask the overall rating and the open questions the same way each term, so every result compares with the one before.

  4. 04

    Make time in class

Show the QR code in the last minutes of a session and leave two minutes to answer, so the evaluation doesn't compete with exam week.

  5. 05

Promise anonymity only where it holds

Call a survey anonymous only when it runs by link or QR code with Anonymous responses on, and leave out questions that would name the student.

  6. 06

    Tell students what changed

Open the next course with one change made because of last term's answers, so students see that their answers lead somewhere.

Templates and questions for course evaluations and student feedback

Start from a template written for college and adult learners, and change any question.

CSATCourse evaluationCollect end-of-course feedback on the content, the pace and the instructor, plus one change for next time. Send it in the last week of the course, before final grades.
RetentionMid-course checkCheck pace and workload halfway through a course, and spot students at risk of dropping out while there's time to help. Send it at the midpoint.
RetentionAfter-class checkA one-minute check for college and adult learners on how much of today's class made sense and what is still unclear. Share the link or QR code at the end of each class.

Frequently asked questions

Yes, by link or QR code. With Anonymous responses on, Usertick stores no student ID, traits or browser ID with the answers, and sends nothing to Google Analytics or other page tools. An evaluation emailed through Usertick stays tied to each student's contact, so share an anonymous evaluation as a link in class, on your learning platform or from your own email.

Yes. Star ratings, effort scores, yes or no and choice questions show inside the email. Selecting an answer opens the rest of the survey with it kept, and the response counts once the student selects Submit.

Run one survey per course, or one survey that asks which course the student took. A dashboard card puts the rating of several courses side by side, Results filters a survey by any answer, and every score shows its change against the period before. Free holds 3 surveys, Starter 10 and Pro any number.

Usertick has no learning platform connector. Post the survey's link on the course page or in an announcement, or email it to the class. On a learning site you run yourself, add the script tag, and the survey opens on the pages you choose.

Usertick doesn't send reminders. Each email send shows how many students received the evaluation and how many answered, so you can follow the response rate and remind the class in the next session with the QR code on screen.

Yes, on Business and above. Limit a role to selected surveys, and its members see only those surveys with their answers and results. Scheduled reports go to members of your organization by email, or to a Teams or Slack channel.

From Starter, a survey can carry several languages, and each student sees their browser's language when the survey has it. Usertick reads written answers in any language, and AI translation fills a new language's texts from Starter. The AI reading itself is written in English.

No. Usertick's terms don't allow surveys aimed at people under 16, or knowingly collecting their answers, unless Usertick has agreed otherwise in writing. The education templates are written for college and adult learners.

Usertick keeps each IP address only as a salted hash, sets no third-party cookies, and the survey page keeps nothing in the browser once the tab closes. The Data Processing Addendum is part of the terms for every customer, every member can sign in with two-factor authentication, and Business adds single sign-on.

Email, link and QR code surveys, anonymous responses, Results, AI reading and workflows to Microsoft Teams or Slack come with every plan, the free plan included. Starter adds timers, more languages per survey and exports without a monthly limit, Pro adds scheduled reports, any number of surveys and 10 members, and Business adds access per department.
