Usertick
After-class feedback template

Find out what didn't land, before the next class starts

Four quick questions to share as the class ends: how it went, how much of it made sense, whether a recap would help and what is still unclear. Use it as it is or change any question, and Usertick reads every written answer for you.

What this after-class survey tells you

An after-class survey, sometimes called an exit ticket, asks learners how the class went before they leave the room. This template takes under a minute: a face for the class, a slider for how much of it made sense, a yes or no on whether a recap or extra practice would help, and one open question on what is still unclear.

It is written for college and adult classes, shared as a QR code on the last slide or the classroom screen, or as a link in the course chat or the learning platform. The link stays the same all term, so one QR code works on every slide deck, and the survey can also open as a conversation that asks one question at a time.

Every written answer is read as it arrives and filed under a category from your education list, such as course content or schedule and pace, with a type and an urgency. Results shows the share of each face, the median of how much made sense with the middle half of answers, and the share who want a recap, each compared with the period before.

The 4 questions, one by one

What each question asks, why it is there, what it shows you and what to change.

Question 1 of 4 ยท Emoji

How did today's class go for you?

Why ask it
A face is the quickest way into the survey for someone packing up to leave, and it gives each class a mood you can follow across the term.
What you learn
Results shows each face from very bad to very good with its share, against the period before, so a week that went badly stands out.
Make it yours
Keep it first and required, so even a learner who answers one question leaves you a reading for the class.
Question 2 of 4 ยท Slider ยท Optional

How much of today's class made sense to you?

Why ask it
How a class felt and how much of it made sense are different things. A lively class can still leave half the room lost, and the slider puts a rough number on that.
What you learn
The median and the middle half of answers, so you see where most of the class sits without one or two answers pulling an average.
Make it yours
When the median drops after a new topic, read that week's answers to the last question before you plan the next class.
Question 3 of 4 ยท Yes / No

Would a short recap or extra practice help?

Why ask it
It turns confusion into a decision: when enough learners say yes, you open the next class with a recap or post extra practice.
What you learn
The share that said yes. Select Yes to filter the whole page to those learners and read what they still find unclear.
Make it yours
Decide in advance what share of yes answers starts a recap, so the answer leads to the same action every week.
Question 4 of 4 ยท Text ยท Optional

What is still unclear?

Why ask it
Learners name the exact step, term or example that lost them, which is the part you can fix in five minutes at the start of the next class.
What you learn
Usertick reads each answer, gives it a sentiment and a theme, and groups the answers into up to 8 themes with their trends, so a topic that keeps coming back week after week shows.
Make it yours
Keep it optional, and read the answers on the day so the next class can open with them.

Tips for this survey

Small choices that keep people answering and the answers useful.

  1. 01

Put the code on the last slide

Download the QR code once and add it to the closing slide of every class. The code points to the live survey, so editing a question never needs a new code.

  2. 02

Leave two minutes before the end

Ask the class to scan the code before anyone packs up. Answers given in the room describe the class that just happened.

  3. 03

    Open with the answers

Start the next class with the most common unclear point, so learners see that what they wrote gets used.

  4. 04

    Use one survey per course

Results doesn't split answers by a link tag, so give each course its own copy of the survey and read it week by week.

Frequently asked questions

In the last two or three minutes of the class, before anyone leaves. The answers then describe that class while it is still fresh.

College students and adult learners. Usertick's terms don't allow surveys aimed at people under 16, so for a younger class ask parents or guardians instead.

Yes. Turn on anonymous responses and share the survey by link or QR code: no user ID, traits or visitor ID are stored with the answers, only the country and a salted hash of the IP address.

After every class works while it stays this short. For a class that meets several times a week, once a week or after each new topic is enough. With 30 responses in a week, Usertick also writes a weekly reading of what changed and what to do.
