Pickup questions that shorten the wait at your counter
Ask shoppers how pickup went, from the ready alert to the wait, the staff and whether the order was complete. Each question below comes with when to ask it and what the answer tells you.
What store pickup survey questions tell you
Store pickup survey questions ask shoppers about the trip to collect an order: how they knew it was ready, how long they waited, whether everything was there and how the staff handled it. Pickup is a promise of speed, and a long wait or a missing item at the counter undoes the reason the shopper chose it.
Ask the same day or the day after, while the visit is fresh. A QR code at the pickup counter opens the survey on the shopper's phone, and a link in your own pickup confirmation reaches the rest. Three to five questions is enough for a visit that took a few minutes.
Each written answer gets a category, a theme, a type and a sentiment, and each response an urgency, so an incomplete order reaches the store team quickly. A tag on the survey link for each store keeps the location with every answer for workflows and Google Sheets.

The 13 store pickup and local questions, with when to ask each
Grouped by what they tell you. Use them as they are or change the wording.
The visit itself
Measure the effort, the wait and the staff, so each store can see where its counter slows down.
- 01Customer effort
How easy was picking up your order?
A customer effort score for the whole pickup. Ask it at the counter with a QR code or in a link the same day. Results shows the average and the share who found it easy, and one survey per store lets you compare them.
- 02Ruler
How many minutes did you wait at pickup?
Minutes spent waiting, on a ruler. Results shows the median and the middle half, which is fairer than an average when one shopper waited half an hour.
- 04Stars
How would you rate the staff at pickup?
A star rating for the staff at the counter. Results shows the average and a bar per rating. Read the low ratings beside the wait time to see whether staffing or the process is the cause.
- 06Yes / No
Was the pickup point easy to find?
A yes or no for signs and directions. Ask it after you open a location or change a layout, since a counter shoppers can't find adds minutes to every visit.
- 12Date
When did you pick up the order?
The day of pickup, picked on a calendar. Results shows the picked dates, so you can see whether low scores cluster on busy days such as weekends.
Whether the order was ready
Check the two things your systems promise: that the order was complete and that the shopper was told it was ready.
- 03Yes / No
Was the order complete when you picked it up?
A yes or no on whether everything was there. Select No in Results to read those answers on their own, and give each an owner so the missing item is sorted that day.
- 05Multiple choice
How did you know the order was ready?
How the shopper heard the order was ready. A share for the last option points at a gap in your alerts, and shoppers who just came show how many don't wait for one.
Why shoppers choose pickup
Ask why shoppers picked up and how far they came, before you add pickup points or a curbside option.
- 10Multiple choice
Why did you choose pickup?
Shoppers can pick several reasons, from speed to keeping the item safe. Bars show each share, and a large share for no delivery option points at areas you don't ship to.
- 09Dropdown
How far did you travel to pick up?
How far the shopper traveled, in bands. Results shows the share for each, which helps when you decide where a new pickup point would serve more shoppers.
- 07This or that
Next time you would rather
Two pairs: pickup or delivery, and curbside or in store. The split bar per pair tells you whether a curbside option is worth the staff time.
Next time
End with whether the shopper will pick up again and what would make it smoother.
- 11Big scale
How likely are you to use pickup again?
How likely the shopper is to pick up again, on a scale of 1 to 10. A column per step in Results shows how many sit at the low end; select those steps to read their wait times.
- 08Text
What would make pickup smoother?
An open question for ideas, asked last. Each answer arrives with a theme, so parking, signs, opening hours and wait times are easy to filter.
- 13Date
What day and time suits you for collection?
The shopper's preferred collection day, picked on a calendar. It collects a date only, so add a dropdown of time slots if you plan staff by the hour.
Tips for asking about store pickup and local
Small choices that get honest, useful answers.
- 01
Put a QR code at the counter
A code by the pickup counter reaches shoppers while they wait or just after. Give each store its own tag on the link, so answers carry the location.
- 02
Ask the same day
Wait times and staff are forgotten fast. Put the link in your own pickup confirmation, or send an email the same evening.
- 03
Fix incomplete orders first
Give every incomplete order an owner in the inbox and contact the shopper before they come back to the counter.
- 04
Check your ready alerts
Read the answers about how shoppers knew the order was ready each month. A rising share told by nobody means an alert is failing somewhere.
