Usertick
Sprint review survey template

Hear what the client expected after every sprint demo

Three questions for after each sprint demo: how well the sprint delivered what the client expected, how quality, pace, communication and testing went, and the top priority for the next sprint. Usertick reads every written answer and flags the urgent ones.

What this sprint review survey tells you

A sprint review survey gives the client a structured way to respond to a demo, beyond the nods in the meeting. This template asks three questions in about a minute: a 1 to 10 score for how well the sprint met expectations, a grid on quality, pace, communication and testing, and the top priority for the next sprint.

It is written for an email right after each sprint demo, before sprint planning. Usertick can send it to the client's product owner and stakeholders, with a button that opens the survey, or you can paste its link into the demo recap, the ticket for the next sprint or the project channel. It also runs as a conversation, one question at a time.

Each priority is read as it arrives and filed under a category such as scope and changes or deadlines and delivery, with a type and an urgency, and each response gets a customer risk reading. Results shows the expectation score as an average with a column per step and the grid as a heat map with row averages, each compared with the period before.

The 3 questions, one by one

What each question asks, why it is there, what it shows you and what to change.

Question 1 of 3 · Big scale

How well did the sprint deliver what you expected?

Why ask it
Asking how well the sprint matched expectations catches a gap between what was planned and what the client thought was planned. A 1 to 10 scale shows small shifts from sprint to sprint.
What you learn
The average on the 1 to 10 scale and a column per step, compared with the period before, so a run of 6s after a run of 9s stands out.
Make it yours
Read any score of 6 or lower before sprint planning, and ask the client which story fell short.
Question 2 of 3 · Matrix · Optional

How would you rate the following?

Why ask it
The grid separates the parts of a sprint your team controls, so a low expectation score points to quality, pace, communication or testing.
What you learn
A heat map with one row per item and the average for each row, so Testing at Fair while Quality of what shipped sits at Very good tells you where to look.
Make it yours
Add a Not applicable column for sprints with no release, since it is left out of the averages.
Question 3 of 3 · Text · Optional

What's the top priority for the next sprint?

Why ask it
The client names the next priority in writing, which gives sprint planning a clear starting point and a record to point back to.
What you learn
Usertick reads each answer as it arrives, files it under a category and a theme from your list, marks it as an idea, a question or a bug, and flags the urgent ones, in any language.
Make it yours
On every plan, a workflow can send each answer to Jira or Linear, so the priority lands next to the backlog.

Tips for this survey

Small choices that keep people answering and the answers useful.

  1. 01

    Send it before planning

Send it right after the demo and read the answers before sprint planning starts, so the client's priority shapes the plan.

  2. 02

    Include the stakeholders who watched

Add everyone who attended the demo. The product owner and the sales lead often rank priorities differently, and the inbox shows each view.

  3. 03

    Move bugs to your tracker

Usertick marks answers that describe a bug. Move them to your tracker the same day, through Jira or Linear, or a Zapier step for Asana or Trello.

  4. 04

Follow the score over the project

Keep one survey for the whole project, so the expectation score shows a trend across sprints and the grid shows whether testing improves.
