Hotel housekeeping survey template

Fix the room while the guest is still in it, with a check halfway through the stay

Three questions for guests partway through a longer stay: how satisfied they are with housekeeping so far, how cleaning, timing, towels and the Do Not Disturb sign rated, and what was missed. Use it as it is or change any question, and Usertick reads every written answer for you.

What this hotel housekeeping survey tells you

A hotel housekeeping survey asks about cleaning while the guest still has nights left, so you can fix a problem before check-out. This template takes about a minute: a satisfaction score for housekeeping so far, a grid for room cleanliness, timing, towels and supplies and respect for the Do Not Disturb sign, and one open question about anything missed.

It is written for an email midway through stays of three nights or more, sent by Usertick to the in-house guests you import as contacts. The same survey runs as a QR code on a card by the bed or the bathroom mirror, as a link on the in-room tablet, or as a conversation that asks one question at a time.

Every written answer is read as it arrives and filed under a category from your list, such as room and facilities or staff and service, with a type and an urgency, so a problem that needs fixing tonight is flagged. Results shows the housekeeping score with the share who rated 4 or higher and a heat map for the four parts, each against the period before.

The 3 questions, one by one

What each question asks, why it is there, what it shows you and what to change.

Question 1 of 3 · Stars

How satisfied are you with housekeeping so far?

Why ask it
The words so far tell guests you are asking while there is still time to fix things. One score gives the housekeeping team a number of its own.
What you learn
The average out of 5, a bar for each rating and the share who rated 4 or higher, against the period before. Select the low ratings to filter the page and read what those guests said was missed.
Make it yours
Keep it first, so a guest can answer it inside the email with one tap.
Question 2 of 3 · Matrix · Optional

How would you rate the following?

Why ask it
Cleaning can go wrong in more ways than dirt: a knock at 8 am, a room made up while the guest wanted to rest, no fresh towels, or a Do Not Disturb sign ignored. The grid separates them.
What you learn
A heat map with a row for each part and its average, so a low row for timing or for the Do Not Disturb sign points to scheduling and training before cleaning supplies.
Make it yours
Add a row for any extra service you offer, such as turndown or an option to skip cleaning, and turn on the Not applicable column for guests who didn't use it.
Question 3 of 3 · Text · Optional

Did we miss anything in your room?

Why ask it
A missed bin or an empty shampoo bottle is easy to fix tonight and annoying for the rest of the stay. Asking directly gets the guest to name it.
What you learn
Usertick reads each answer as it arrives, files it under a category and a theme, marks it as a complaint, a question or an idea, and flags urgent ones such as a broken lock. Results lists the answers by theme, with up to 8 themes and their trends.
Make it yours
Add a question for the room number, or ask for it in this label, so housekeeping knows where to go.

Tips for this survey

Small choices that keep people answering and the answers useful.

  1. 01

Send it on the second morning

For a stay of three nights or more, send the survey the morning after the second night, so there are still nights left to put things right.

  2. 02

    Route problems to housekeeping

On every plan, a workflow posts low scores and written answers to the housekeeping team's channel in Slack or Microsoft Teams, so a missed room is cleaned the same day.

  3. 03

Close the loop in the room

When a guest names a problem, have the supervisor fix it and leave a note in the room. Mark the response as done in the inbox, so the team sees what was fixed.

  4. 04

    Compare floors and shifts

Add a question for the floor or the room type and filter Results by it, so you can see whether one floor or one shift needs support.
