Usertick
Integration feedback survey template

Find where integration setup gets hard, and which tool to build next

Three questions right after someone connects an integration: how easy it was, what made it hard for those who struggled, and which tools they want to connect next. Usertick reads every written answer and groups the requests into themes.

What this integration feedback survey tells you

An integration feedback survey asks users how connecting another tool went, right after the connection is made. This template takes about a minute: a customer effort score, a follow-up about what made it hard for the users who scored it low, and one open question about the tools they want to connect next.

It is written for a popup in your web app on the screen that confirms the new connection. Target that page on every plan, or, from Starter or on 1 survey on Free, fire a custom event such as Usertick.trigger("integration_connected") from your code. Leave the show frequency on until answered so a user who connects several tools answers once, or set it to show again after a number of days to hear about each one. The same survey also runs as a link in the email that confirms the connection.

Results shows the average effort score and the share who found it easy, with a hard-to-easy bar, against the period before. Usertick reads each written answer and files it under a category such as integrations or ease of use, with a type and an urgency, so problems with one step stand out.

The 3 questions, one by one

What each question asks, why it is there, what it shows you and what to change.

Question 1 of 3 · Customer effort

How easy was it to set up this integration?

Why ask it
Connecting an integration usually means two accounts, permissions and settings in another product. The effort score measures how much of that got in the way.
What you learn
The average on the 1 to 7 scale and the share who found it easy, with a hard-to-easy bar, compared with the period before.
Make it yours
Keep the skip: a score of 5 or higher goes straight to question 3, so only users who struggled are asked what made it hard.
Question 2 of 3 · Text · Optional

What made it hard?

Why ask it
Only users who scored 4 or lower see this question, so every answer here describes a real problem: an unclear permission screen, a failed sign-in or a missing field.
What you learn
Usertick gives each answer a theme, a type such as a bug or a complaint, and an urgency. Results lists the answers filterable by theme, so one broken step stands out.
Make it yours
Run a separate survey for each integration, each on its own page or event, so every answer is about one tool.
Question 3 of 3 · Text · Optional

Which other tools would you like to connect?

Why ask it
Users who just connected one tool know which others they use every day. Their answers are a list of the next integrations to build, named by people who will use them.
What you learn
Each answer with its sentiment and theme, filterable by theme, with up to 8 themes and their trends. Read the answers filed under integrations to count requests per tool.
Make it yours
Keep it optional, and count the tools named here each quarter before you plan the next integration.

Tips for this survey

Small choices that keep people answering and the answers useful.

  1. 01

    Ask on the confirmation screen

Open the survey where the new connection shows as live, so the user answers with the setup still in view.

  2. 02

    One survey per integration

Make a separate survey for each integration you want to measure, so the effort score for each tool stays apart in Results.

  3. 03

    Alert on failed setups

On every plan, a workflow posts urgent responses to Slack or Microsoft Teams, so support can help a user whose connection failed on the same day. From Starter, it can also open a Zendesk ticket with the answers as an internal note.

  4. 04

Keep a list of requested tools

On every plan, a workflow adds each response to a Google Sheet, so the product team can tally the requested tools in one place.

Frequently asked questions

Right after the connection is made, on the screen that confirms it. Later, users remember that it works and forget what was hard.

The first question has skip logic: a score of 5 or higher on the 1 to 7 scale goes straight to the question about other tools. Only users who found it hard are asked why.

Yes. Target the page that confirms the connection on any plan, or, from Starter or on 1 survey on Free, fire a custom event from your code and open the survey on it.

Two or three. Users who found it easy answer two, and the others answer three, in about a minute. Both open questions are optional, so a user in a hurry can stop after the score.

Count the tools named in the last question each quarter, and weigh them against how many of your customers use each one before you plan the next integration.

Yes. Every template comes with every plan, the free plan included, and the free plan covers 150 responses a month across your surveys.

Yes. The template becomes your own survey, so reword any question, add or remove questions, and change the options and the logic. The gallery stays as it is.

Yes, from Starter. The template is written in US English. Add languages by hand or with AI translation, and each person sees the survey in their browser's language.
