Pricing page survey template

Find out what holds visitors back, right on your pricing page

Two questions for the pricing page: what is stopping a visitor from choosing a plan today and what they still want to know about your pricing. Use it as it is or change any question, and Usertick reads every written answer for you.

What this pricing page survey tells you

A pricing page survey asks visitors why they haven't picked a plan while they are still comparing plans. This template keeps it to two questions and about forty seconds: the main thing stopping them today, from the price to a missing detail to a colleague who has to agree, and an open question for anything your pricing leaves unclear.

It is written for a popup on your pricing page that opens after 30 seconds on the page or when a visitor is about to leave. Both triggers work on every plan, and page rules keep the survey on the pricing page alone. The same questions also work as a link in a trial email, for people who looked at the plans and didn't choose one.

Every written answer is read as it arrives and filed under a category such as pricing and plans or features and gaps, with a type, so questions for your sales team come apart from complaints about the price. Results shows the share of each reason against the period before, so a change to the page shows in the next period.

The 2 questions, one by one

What each question asks, why it is there, what it shows you and what to change.

Question 1 of 2 · Multiple choice

What's stopping you from choosing a plan today?

Why ask it
The options cover the usual blockers on a pricing page: the price, picking the right plan, needing approval, missing information about a feature, wanting to try first, and people who are about to sign up anyway.
What you learn
A donut with the share and count of each reason, with typed Other answers listed, compared with the period before, so you see whether a clearer plan table or a new trial offer moved the shares.
Make it yours
Keep the option for visitors who are about to sign up, so people who are already convinced don't get counted under another reason.
Question 2 of 2 · Text · Optional

What questions do you have about our pricing?

Why ask it
Visitors ask what the page doesn't answer, such as seat limits, overage costs or what happens when a trial ends. Each question points to a line your pricing page is missing.
What you learn
Usertick reads each answer, marks questions apart from complaints and ideas, and files them under a theme. Results groups the answers by theme with their trends, so the question asked most is easy to spot. Select a reason in the first question to read the questions of visitors who gave it.
Make it yours
Add a Contact question after it if you want to answer each visitor, since most pricing page visitors haven't signed in and their answers carry no name or email.

What the answers show

Results turns each question into numbers you can follow week by week.

Tips for this survey

Small choices that keep people answering and the answers useful.

  1. 01

    Wait before you ask

Use a delay of about 30 seconds, so the survey opens for visitors who are reading the plans and stays away from people passing through.

  2. 02

Catch visitors on the way out

Add exit intent as a second condition matched with Any, so visitors who leave before 30 seconds still get the question. On touch screens, exit intent reads a fast scroll back to the top.

  3. 03

Answer the top question on the page

Each period, take the question visitors ask most and answer it on the pricing page or in its FAQ, then check whether it drops in the next period.

  4. 04

    Send pricing questions to sales

On every plan, a workflow posts the answers the AI marks as questions to a Slack or Microsoft Teams channel, so your sales team sees what buyers want to know.
