Usertick
Integration request survey template

Learn which integrations to build, and what customers would do with them

Four questions for your integrations page: the tool customers want connected, what they would use the connection for, how important it is and the workflow they have in mind. Use it as it is or change any question, and Usertick reads every written answer for you.

What this integration request survey tells you

An integration request survey asks customers which tool you should connect to next and why. This template asks four questions in about a minute: the tool, picked from a list or typed in, what they would use the connection for, how important it is, from nice to have to deciding whether they stay, and a description of the workflow they have in mind.

It is written for a link on your integrations page, where customers look for a tool and don't find it. The same survey can sit inside that page under the list of tools, or open as a popup in the integrations settings of your web app.

Results shows the share of each tool, with every typed Other answer listed, the share of each use and how important the requests are, against the period before. Every written answer is read as it arrives and filed under a category such as integrations, with a theme and a type.

The 4 questions, one by one

What each question asks, why it is there, what it shows you and what to change.

Question 1 of 4 · Dropdown

Which tool would you like us to connect to?

Why ask it
A list of the tools you hear about most makes the common requests easy to count, and the Other answer catches the ones you didn't think of.
What you learn
A donut with the share and count of each tool, with every typed Other answer listed beside it, so the tools missing from your list still show by name.
Make it yours
Put your most requested tools on the list and remove the ones you already support, so the list points at real gaps.
Question 2 of 4 · Multiple choice · Optional

What would you use it for?

Why ask it
The same tool can mean an alert, a sync or a report. The use decides how deep the integration has to go.
What you learn
Bars with the share and count of each use, with typed Other answers listed. Select a tool in the first question to see what customers want it for.
Make it yours
When most requests for one tool are about alerts, check whether a webhook or a Zapier connection covers them before you build a full integration.
Question 3 of 4 · Multiple choice

How important is this integration to you?

Why ask it
Importance separates convenience from a deal breaker. A request that decides whether the customer stays belongs in a different queue from a nice extra.
What you learn
A donut with the share of each level, compared with the period before. Select It would decide whether we stay to see which tools carry that weight.
Make it yours
On every plan, a workflow posts each answer of It would decide whether we stay to your product channel in Slack or Microsoft Teams, with the tool and the workflow described.
Question 4 of 4 · Text · Optional

Describe the workflow you have in mind

Why ask it
The workflow shows the trigger, the data and the result the customer expects, which is what your team needs to scope the integration.
What you learn
Usertick reads each answer, files it under a category and a theme from your list, and marks it as an idea, a question or a complaint. Filter by theme to read every workflow described for one kind of use.
Make it yours
Read these answers before you write the spec, since customers often describe a smaller first version than the one you would build.

Tips for this survey

Small choices that keep people answering and the answers useful.

  1. 01

Place it where the search fails

Put the link or the embedded survey under your list of integrations and on the search results page that finds no match, so customers see it the moment a tool is missing.

  2. 02

    Tie requests to accounts

In your web app, call Usertick.identify() with the user's ID, plan and email, so each request shows which account asked and you can weigh it by plan.

  3. 03

    Answer with what exists today

Some requests can be met now through Zapier or a webhook. Give those responses an owner in the inbox who writes back with a link to your guide.

  4. 04

    Tell customers when it ships

Mark each request's status in the inbox as you build, so when the integration goes live you know every customer who asked for it.
