Corporate partner questions that show what makes a company renew
Ask company partners what they want from working with you, from staff volunteering to the numbers they share inside. Each question below comes with when to ask it and what the answer tells you.
What corporate partnership survey questions tell you
Corporate partnership survey questions ask the companies that support you what they want from the partnership, how the year went and what would help them renew. The contact who enjoys working with you still has to make the case to a budget holder, and their answers show what that case needs: impact numbers, stories, staff days or visibility.
Ask once a year, about two months before the partnership comes up for renewal, by email or link to your main contact at each company. Pick six to eight questions, and ask the staff volunteering questions only of companies whose employees took part.
Each written answer is read as it arrives and given a category, a theme, a sentiment and an urgency, so a renewal risk reaches your partnerships lead quickly. Give each one an owner in the inbox, and a workflow can send answers on to HubSpot.

The 15 company partnerships questions, with when to ask each
Grouped by what they tell you. Use them as they are or change the wording.
What the company wants
Start with what the company wants and needs from you, so the rest of the answers are read against its goals.
- 01Multiple choice
What does your company want from this partnership?
Names the main thing the company wants, from staff engagement to real social impact. Results shows the share of each, so you can shape each renewal pitch around that partner's goal.
- 12Ranking
Rank what your company needs from us
Partners put five needs in order, from impact numbers to a named contact. Results shows the average place per item, which tells you what to put first in the renewal pack.
- 05Big scale
How well does our work fit your company values?
How well your work fits the company's values, from 1 to 10. A low score can explain a partnership that feels like a transaction, and points at the stories you share.
- 11Points allocation
Split 100 points across what your company gives us
The contact splits 100 points across money, staff time, products, skills and reach. Results shows the average points per item, a picture of what partners feel they give beyond the check.
How the year went
These questions cover the working relationship, from getting started to reporting, so you can fix the parts that slow a partner down.
- 02Stars
How would you rate the contact you work with here?
A star rating for the person who manages the partnership on your side. Results shows the average and the share who rated 4 or higher. A low score calls for a quiet conversation before renewal.
- 08Customer effort
How easy is it to work with our fundraising team?
A customer effort score for working with your fundraising team. A low score points at slow replies, unclear contacts or too many steps to approve a staff day.
- 09Matrix
Rate the year of working together on each
Rates getting started, communication, reporting and staff activities in one grid. The heat map shows which part pulls the year down, with an average per row.
- 14Text
What did we get wrong this year?
An open question on what went wrong this year. Each answer arrives with its sentiment. Give every complaint an owner in the inbox and a reply before the renewal meeting.
- 10Dropdown
How long has your company supported us?
How long the company has supported you. Use it to split the other answers, since a first-year partner needs a clear start and a long-term one needs fresh reasons to stay.
How staff took part
Ask how employees joined in and what they would join next, so you can plan activities the company can report on inside.
- 03Yes / No
Did your staff take part in our volunteering days?
A plain yes or no on whether the company's staff joined your volunteering days. Use logic to show the next question, on how many took part, only to companies that said yes.
- 04Number
How many of your employees took part this year?
How many employees took part this year. Results shows the median and the middle half across partners, and each company's own figure is one it can quote in its own report.
- 06Multiple choice
Which activities would your company join?
Lets the company pick every activity it would join, from payroll giving to product donations. Results shows bars per option, a menu for next year's proposal.
Renewing and growing support
Read these before the renewal meeting, so you walk in knowing what the contact needs to say yes.
- 07Text
What would make it easier to renew this inside your company?
An open question on what would make renewal easier inside the company. Each answer arrives with its theme, and the answers can name the report or the number a budget holder asks for.
- 15Big scale
How likely is your company to increase its support next year?
How likely the company is to increase its support next year, from 1 to 10. Read it with the budget and renewal answers to decide which partners to approach first.
- 13Slider
What annual partnership budget are you working with?
The annual partnership budget the company is working with, on a slider. Results shows the median and the middle half. Place it near the end, since some contacts can't share the figure.
Tips for asking about company partnerships
Small choices that get honest, useful answers.
- 01
Survey well ahead of renewal
Send the survey about two months before the renewal date, so the answers can shape your proposal.
- 02
Ask the right contact
Send the survey to the person who runs the partnership inside the company, and a short version to staff who volunteered if you want their view too.
- 03
Give them numbers to share
Use the answers on what the company needs to build the report it shares inside: employees who took part, hours given and the stories behind them.
- 04
Reply to every complaint
Answer every low score or complaint in person before renewal, and say what you changed.
