Usertick
Freelancer feedback survey template

Become the agency good freelancers want to work with

Three questions for when a freelance project closes: how your briefs, feedback, payments and respect for their time rate, whether they would work with you again and what to do better. Usertick reads every written answer.

What this freelancer feedback survey tells you

A freelancer feedback survey asks the people you hire what you are like to work for. This template asks three questions in about a minute: a grid on the quality of your briefs, the speed of your feedback, paying on time and respect for their time, whether they would work with you again, and what to do better for freelancers.

It is written for an email when a freelance project closes, after the final invoice is paid so the answer covers the whole job. Usertick can send it to your freelancer contacts, with a button that opens the survey, or you can share its link in your own closing email. When you want answers without a name attached, turn on anonymous responses and share the survey by link or QR code, since a survey sent through Usertick email ties each answer to the contact.

Each written answer is read as it arrives and filed under a category from your list, such as invoices and billing or communication, with a type, a sentiment and an urgency. Results draws the grid as a heat map with row averages and shows the share who would work with you again, compared with the period before.

The 3 questions, one by one

What each question asks, why it is there, what it shows you and what to change.

Question 1 of 3 · Matrix · Optional

How would you rate working with us?

Why ask it
Freelancers judge an agency on four things they feel on every job: the brief, the feedback, the payment and how their time is treated. The grid rates each one.
What you learn
A heat map with one row per item and the average for each row, so Paying on time at Fair stands out even when the briefs score well.
Make it yours
Add rows that matter in your work, such as Access to files or Clear sign-off, and keep the same columns so the averages compare across projects.
Question 2 of 3 · Yes / No

Would you work with us again?

Why ask it
Good freelancers have a choice of clients. A plain yes or no tells you whether this one will say yes the next time you call.
What you learn
The share that said yes, compared with the period before. Choose No to read the grid and the written answers from those freelancers alone.
Make it yours
Read every No before you staff the next project, and ask the project lead what happened.
Question 3 of 3 · Text · Optional

What should we do better for freelancers?

Why ask it
Freelancers see how many agencies work, so their suggestions are often practical and specific.
What you learn
Usertick reads each answer as it arrives, files it under a category and a theme from your list, marks it as an idea, a complaint or praise, and flags the urgent ones, in any language.
Make it yours
Send a short note to your freelancers about the change you made, so they see the answers were read.

Tips for this survey

Small choices that keep people answering and the answers useful.

  1. 01

Send it after the final payment

Wait until the invoice is paid, so Paying on time reflects the whole job and the freelancer has nothing left to lose by being honest.

  2. 02

    Include the short jobs

Ask after small jobs as well as long ones. A two-day job with a rushed brief is where the habits of your team show.

  3. 03

    Choose anonymity on purpose

Send by Usertick email to know who said what and follow up, or turn on anonymous responses and share the link or QR code when candor matters more.

  4. 04

Share the grid with project leads

Show the heat map to the people who write briefs and approve work, since Speed of feedback and Quality of the briefs sit with them.
