Hotel gym and pool survey template

See how your gym and pool rate, from the guests who used them

Three questions for guests who used your fitness and pool areas: how satisfied they were, how equipment, cleanliness, hours, towels and water rated, and what they wish you had. Use it as it is or change any question, and Usertick reads every written answer for you.

What this hotel gym and pool survey tells you

A hotel gym and pool survey asks the guests who used your fitness areas what worked and what was missing. This template takes about a minute: a satisfaction score, a grid for equipment, cleanliness, opening hours and towels and water, and one open question about what they wish you had.

It is written for an email after check-out, sent by Usertick to the guests who used the gym or the pool, so you hear only from people who saw them. The same survey runs as a QR code on the gym door, at the pool entrance or by the towel station, and as a link in the guest messages your own system sends.

Every written answer is read as it arrives and filed under a category from your list, such as room and facilities or staff and service, with a type and an urgency, so a safety problem such as a broken machine is flagged. Results shows the score with the share who rated 4 or higher and a heat map for the four parts, each against the period before.

The 3 questions, one by one

What each question asks, why it is there, what it shows you and what to change.

Question 1 of 3 · Stars

How satisfied were you with the gym and pool?

Why ask it
Guests who work out on a trip care about the gym, and a weak one can send their next booking elsewhere. One score tracks the facilities on their own, apart from the room.
What you learn
The average out of 5, a bar for each rating and the share who rated 4 or higher, against the period before. Select the low ratings to read what those guests wish you had.
Make it yours
If different teams run the gym and the pool, split the question in two, so each team gets its own score.
Question 2 of 3 · Matrix · Optional

How would you rate the following?

Why ask it
A gym can let guests down in four ways: missing equipment, a dirty floor, hours that miss early risers, or no towels when they need one. The grid tells you which.
What you learn
A heat map with a row for each part and its average, so towels and water scoring low points to a supply fix that costs little.
Make it yours
Add a row for the pool water or the changing rooms if guests mention them, and turn on the Not applicable column for guests who used only one area.
Question 3 of 3 · Text · Optional

What do you wish we had?

Why ask it
Guests who travel often compare your gym with others they have used. Their wishes, such as a squat rack, a yoga mat or a later closing time, make a ready list for your next upgrade.
What you learn
Usertick reads each answer, files it under a theme from your list and marks it as an idea, a complaint or praise. Results lists the answers by theme, with up to 8 themes and their trends, so the most requested items show first.
Make it yours
Count the repeated wishes before you buy equipment, and put a note on the gym door when something guests asked for arrives.

Tips for this survey

Small choices that keep people answering and the answers useful.

  1. 01

Ask only the guests who used them

Keep a list of guests who signed in at the gym or took pool towels, import them as contacts, and send the survey after check-out.

  2. 02

Put a code at the door

Print the QR code on the gym door or by the towel station, so guests can answer right after a workout.

  3. 03

    Fix the cheap things first

Towels, water and cleaning cost far less than new machines. When those rows score low, fix them and watch the score against the period before.

  4. 04

    Share results with facilities

On every plan, a workflow adds every answer to a Google Sheet the facilities team already uses, or posts low scores to Microsoft Teams.
