Moving company survey template

Learn how the move really went, while the boxes are still being unpacked

Four quick questions for customers the day after the move: whether the crew arrived on time, how carefully belongings were handled, how the crew did and how the final price compared with the quote. Use it as it is or change any question, and add an open question when you want the details in the customer's words, which Usertick reads for you.

What this moving company survey tells you

A moving company feedback survey asks customers about the four things they judge a move on: punctuality, care, the crew and the bill. This template asks four questions in about 30 seconds: whether the crew arrived on time, how carefully belongings were handled, a rating for the crew and whether the final price was lower, the same or higher than the quote.

It is written for an email the day after the move, with the first question inside the email so one tap on Yes or No starts the survey. The same template also runs as a QR code on the invoice or on a card the crew leaves behind, as a link in your own follow-up message, or as a popup on your website.

Results shows the share of crews that arrived on time, the care and crew ratings and the split of final prices against quotes, each compared with the period before. Select Higher to see how those customers rated the crew. When you add an open question, Usertick reads each answer, files it under a category such as moving in and out, and flags the urgent ones, such as damaged furniture.

The 4 questions, one by one

What each question asks, why it is there, what it shows you and what to change.

Question 1 of 4 · Yes / No

Did the crew arrive on time?

Why ask it
A late crew means a customer waiting with the keys and a building with booked elevator times. A plain yes or no counts how often your crews keep the arrival window.
What you learn
The share that said yes, compared with the period before. Select No to see whether late moves also rated the crew lower.
Make it yours
Add a question for the crew or the truck when you run several, so a late start can be traced to a team.
Question 2 of 4 · Stars

How carefully were your belongings handled?

Why ask it
Damage is the worry behind every move. A rating from very carelessly to very carefully shows how customers felt watching their things go onto the truck, even when nothing broke.
What you learn
The average, a bar per rating and the share who rated 4 or higher, against the period before.
Make it yours
Add an optional text question after it, with skip logic so only ratings of 1 or 2 reach it, to ask what was damaged.
Question 3 of 4 · Stars

How would you rate the moving crew?

Why ask it
Customers judge the crew on more than speed: how they spoke, whether they protected floors and doors, whether furniture ended up where it was asked. Rating the crew apart from care separates manners from handling.
What you learn
The average, a bar per rating and the share who rated 4 or higher. With one copy of the survey per crew, you can compare teams side by side.
Make it yours
Name the crew lead in the email intro, so customers know who they are rating.
Question 4 of 4 · Multiple choice

Compared with the quote, the final price was

Why ask it
A final bill above the quote can turn a good move into a complaint. Three plain answers show how often your quotes hold.
What you learn
A donut with the share and count of Lower, The same and Higher, with stacked shares over time, so a change to how you quote shows up within a month.
Make it yours
When Higher grows, review how your estimators account for stairs, parking and packing, where extra hours on the day tend to come from.

Tips for this survey

Small choices that keep people answering and the answers useful.

  1. 01

    Send it the day after

The move is still fresh and the customer has had a night to find anything damaged. Schedule the email when the move is booked, up to 30 days ahead.

  2. 02

    Handle damage first

Usertick gives each response an urgency. Assign the urgent ones to the person who handles claims in the inbox, and set the status when the claim is settled.

  3. 03

    Compare your crews

Results doesn't split answers by crew, so add a question that names the crew, or run one copy per crew, then select each answer to compare.

  4. 04

    Track quotes against bills

Watch the share of Higher month by month next to the crew rating, so a quoting problem doesn't get blamed on the crew.
