Open house survey template

Collect every visitor's first impression, before they reach the curb

Four quick questions for open house visitors, opened from a QR code at the door: their first impression, what stood out, how the asking price feels and how interested they are. Use it as it is or change any question, and Usertick reads every written answer for you.

What this open house survey tells you

An open house feedback survey collects what visitors think while they are still walking through the rooms. This template takes about 45 seconds on a phone: a face for the first impression, the features that stood out, how the asking price feels and how interested they are.

It is written for a QR code printed on a sign at the door or on the listing sheet, which opens the hosted survey page on the visitor's phone. The same template also runs as an email Usertick sends to visitors who left an email at sign-in, as a link in a message to buyers' agents, or as a popup on the listing page of your website.

Every typed Other answer is read as it arrives and filed under a category from your list, such as showings and listings, with a type and a sentiment. Results shows the share of each first impression, the features visitors noticed and how the asking price lands, so you can report to the seller the same evening.

The 4 questions, one by one

What each question asks, why it is there, what it shows you and what to change.

Question 1 of 4 ยท Emoji

What was your first impression of the property?

Why ask it
A first impression forms in the first minute inside, and faces are the quickest way to capture it on a phone. Five faces from very bad to very good are easy to answer standing in a hallway.
What you learn
Faces from unhappy to happy, each with its share, against the last open house. Select Bad or Very bad to see what those visitors thought of the price.
Make it yours
Keep it first, so the survey starts with a single tap after the QR code opens it.
Question 2 of 4 ยท Multiple choice ยท Optional

What stood out to you?

Why ask it
The features visitors noticed tell the seller what to keep in the listing photos and what the description is missing. Visitors can pick several, from the layout to the street.
What you learn
Bars with the share and count of each feature, with every typed Other answer listed beside the chart, so a feature you never mentioned in the listing can show up.
Make it yours
Swap the options for this property's selling points, such as a finished basement or a two-car garage, before each open house.
Question 3 of 4 ยท Multiple choice

How does the asking price feel?

Why ask it
Visitors say what they think of the price more freely on their phone than to the listing agent. Three plain answers give the seller a read on the asking price from the people who actually came.
What you learn
A donut with each share and count. When Too high leads across two open houses, you have something firmer than impressions for a price conversation.
Make it yours
Keep the three options neutral, so visitors don't feel steered toward one answer.
Question 4 of 4 ยท Multiple choice

How interested are you?

Why ask it
Interest separates serious buyers from neighbors and early browsers. It also shows the seller how many visitors might turn into offers.
What you learn
A donut with the share of Very interested, Considering it and Not for me. Select Very interested to see what those visitors liked and how they rated the price.
Make it yours
Add an optional Contact question after it, with skip logic so Not for me ends the survey, and interested visitors can leave a name and email for a private showing.

Tips for this survey

Small choices that keep people answering and the answers useful.

  1. 01

    Print the code large

Put the QR code on a sign at the door and on each listing sheet, big enough to scan from a step away, with a short line such as Tell the seller what you think.

  2. 02

    Keep one survey per property

Results doesn't split answers by house, so run a copy for each listing and use it for every open house at that address. The seller then sees every visitor's answers in one place.

  3. 03

Tag the code and the email apart

Add ?utm_source=qr to the printed code and ?utm_source=email to the link in your follow-up, so each answer keeps where it came from in Google Sheets and webhooks.

  4. 04

Report to the seller the same day

Open Results after the open house and share the impression faces, the standout features and the price split. A seller who sees what visitors chose can weigh a price change with less guesswork.

They scan the QR code with their phone camera, and the hosted survey page opens in the browser. There is nothing to install, and the four questions take under a minute.

The template doesn't ask for them, so visitors answer freely. To follow up, add an optional Contact question at the end, or keep your own sign-in sheet next to the code.

Yes. Usertick can email the same survey to visitors who left an email at sign-in, imported as contacts from a CSV file. The first question sits inside the email, so a tap on a face starts the survey.

Share the split of the price answers next to the interest answers and the first impressions. Many visitors who liked the house and still chose Too high point at the price, while poor first impressions point at presentation.

Yes. Run a separate copy for the brokers' open house, since agents judge price and condition differently from buyers, and compare the two in Results.
