Guests with pets survey questions

Pet stay questions that show what makes a hotel truly pet friendly

Ask guests who traveled with a dog or a cat about the fee, the room, the rules and the walks. Each question below comes with when to ask it and what the answer tells you.

What pet-friendly hotel survey questions tell you

Pet-friendly hotel survey questions ask guests who brought an animal how the stay worked for both of them: whether the pet fee was clear, where the pet could go, what the room lacked, how other guests reacted and where they walked the dog. Pet owners choose hotels carefully and talk to other owners, so an unclear rule or a missing bowl travels further than you might expect.

Send the survey the day after checkout to guests whose booking included a pet, or add a pet question to your regular stay survey and use logic to show these questions only to pet owners. Pick four or five: the fee, how pet friendly the room felt, what the pet needed and one open question.

Each written answer gets a category, a theme, a sentiment and an urgency, so a complaint from another guest or a fee dispute reaches the manager, and the walking routes guests suggest can go into the welcome note for the next dog.

The 14 guests with pets questions, with when to ask each

Grouped by what they tell you. Use them as they are or change the wording.

The pet fee

Ask whether the fee was clear, what the guest paid and whether it felt fair, before you change your pet policy.

  1. 01Yes / No

Was the pet fee clear before you booked?

A yes or no on whether the pet fee was clear before booking. Select No in Results to read those guests' fairness scores, since an unclear fee can sour the stay before it starts.

  2. 11Number

How much was the pet fee per night?

The pet fee per night, from 0 to 100. Results shows the median and the middle half; compare it with your published fee to spot guests charged the wrong amount.

  3. 08Big scale

How fair was the pet fee?

How fair the pet fee felt, from 1 to 10. Read it beside the fee paid per night to find the point where guests start to feel overcharged.

The room and the building

These show how ready the room and the rules were for a pet, from bowls to the places pets could go.

  1. 06Stars

How pet friendly did the room feel?

A star rating for how pet friendly the room felt. Results shows the average and the share who rated 4 or higher; read it with what the pet needed to see what to add.

  2. 04Dropdown

Where could your pet go in the building?

Where the guest thought the pet could go. Results shows each share and count; a large share of guests who were never sure means the rules need stating at check-in.

  3. 03Multiple choice

What did your pet need that we did not have?

Lists what the pet needed that you didn't have, with several picks allowed. Results shows a bar per item, which works as a shopping list for the front desk.

  4. 10Text

Where did you walk your dog while you were here?

An open question for where the guest walked the dog. The answers give you routes and parks to put in a welcome note for the next pet owner.

How the stay went with a pet

Ask how the trip felt, how other guests reacted and what would make the next stay better for the pet.

  1. 07Emoji

How did traveling with your pet go?

How traveling with the pet went, on a row of faces. Results shows each face with its share, compared with the period before, a quick read on your pet policy as a whole.

  2. 05Multiple choice

How did other guests react to your pet?

How other guests reacted, from very friendly to a complaint. Results shows a donut with each share; read any complaints beside where pets were allowed to go.

  3. 09Text

What would make the stay better for your pet?

An open question for what would make the stay better for the pet. Each answer is filed as an idea with a theme, so repeated requests for a dog bed or a water bowl stand out.

The pet's details for next time

Close with the animal, the dates, permission to remember the pet and a photo if the guest wants to share one.

  1. 02Multiple choice

    Who came with you?

One pick for the animal that came, from a small dog to another animal. Select each answer in Results to compare how dog and cat owners rated the room.

  2. 12Date

Which night did your pet arrive?

Lets the guest pick the night the pet arrived on a calendar. Results shows a calendar of picked dates; for most stays it matches check-in, so leave it out unless pets often join later.

  3. 13Consent

May we note your pet on your profile for next time?

Asks permission to note the pet on the guest's profile. Save the note in your own system only after a yes, so the next booking starts with the bowl and the bed in place.

  4. 14File upload

Share a photo of your pet enjoying the stay

A photo of the pet enjoying the stay, attached to the answer. Ask the guest before you use any photo in your marketing. File upload is on every plan, 1 per survey on Free.

Tips for asking about guests with pets

Small choices that get honest, useful answers.

  1. 01

    Ask only guests with pets

Send the survey to bookings that included a pet, or add a pet question to the stay survey and use logic to show these questions to pet owners only.

  2. 02

    State the rules at check-in

When many guests weren't sure where the pet could go, hand over the rules with the key and watch that share fall.

  3. 03

Keep a pet kit at the desk

Use the list of what pets needed to stock bowls, beds and waste bags at the front desk.

  4. 04

    Ask before using a photo

Pet photos make good marketing, so ask the guest before you post one, even when they shared it in the survey.
