Find out who met the right people, and which formats made it happen

Three questions for the day after your event: how many useful conversations attendees had, which formats helped them meet people and what would have helped more. Use it as it is or change any question, and Usertick reads every written answer for you.

What this event networking survey tells you

An event networking survey asks attendees whether they met the people they came to meet. This template takes under a minute: a count of useful conversations, the formats that helped and one open question about what would have helped more. It shows whether the breaks, roundtables and app matching you planned did their job, which a satisfaction score can't.

It is written for an email the day after the event, sent by Usertick to your attendee list with the first question inside the message. The same template also runs as a link in your own wrap-up email or the event app, or as a QR code on the final slide of the closing session. Answers sent through Usertick email are tied to each attendee's contact, so your team can follow up with attendees who met no one.

Every written answer is read as it arrives and filed under a category such as networking or venue and rooms, with a type and a sentiment. Results shows the share for each conversation count, a bar for each format that helped and the typed Other answers, and selecting an answer filters the whole page to those attendees.

The 3 questions, one by one

What each question asks, why it is there, what it shows you and what to change.

Question 1 of 3 · Multiple choice

How many useful conversations did you have?

Why ask it
A count of useful conversations is easier to answer honestly than a rating, and None is a clear sign that someone left without what they came for.
What you learn
A donut with the share and count for none, 1 to 2, 3 to 5 and more than 5, compared with the period before. Select None to read what those attendees say would have helped.
Make it yours
Keep the same ranges when you change the format, so a year with roundtables compares cleanly with a year without.
Question 2 of 3 · Multiple choice · Optional

What helped you meet people?

Why ask it
Icebreakers, roundtables, app matching and long breaks cost different amounts of time and money. Asking which ones helped tells you where to spend next year.
What you learn
Bars with the share and count for each format, since attendees can pick several, with every typed Other answer listed beside the chart. Select a format to see how many useful conversations those attendees had.
Make it yours
List the formats you ran by the names on your agenda, and remove Matching in the event app if your event had none.
Question 3 of 3 · Text · Optional

What would have helped you meet more people?

Why ask it
Attendees who struggled to meet people can usually say what was missing, such as badges with company names, a quieter room or a list of who is coming. Their answers are the brief for next year's networking plan.
What you learn
Each answer with its sentiment and theme, filterable by theme, with up to 8 themes and their trends. Usertick files each answer under a category from your list and marks ideas and complaints.
Make it yours
Turn the most common theme into one change for the next event, and say so in the invitation.

Tips for this survey

Small choices that keep people answering and the answers useful.

  1. 01

    Send it the next morning

Attendees remember who they met on the day after. Schedule the send before the event ends so it goes out the next morning.

  2. 02

    Read the None answers first

Select None in Results and read what those attendees wrote about meeting people. They tell you what kept attendees apart.

  3. 03

    Compare first-timers and regulars

Add a question asking whether it was their first time at the event, then select each answer to compare. First-time attendees often arrive knowing no one.

  4. 04

    Share the counts with sponsors

Sponsors pay to meet attendees. The share of attendees with three or more useful conversations is a number worth putting in your sponsor report.
