Event app questions that show whether the app earned its place
Ask attendees whether they used the event app, what for and what it was missing on the day. Each question below comes with when to ask it and what the answer tells you.
What event app survey questions tell you
Event app feedback survey questions ask attendees whether the app you paid for helped them on the day: who installed it, what they opened it for, whether the schedule and maps worked and whether the notifications helped or got in the way. Download numbers show who installed the app, and these answers show whether it made the day easier or sent attendees back to the printed program.
Ask in the survey after the event, the evening it ends or the next morning, by email or with a QR code at the exit. Start with whether attendees installed the app, and add logic to skip the rest for those who didn't. Pick five or six: the rating, what they used, the notifications, the grid and what was missing.
Each written answer is given a theme, a type such as bug or idea, and a sentiment as it arrives, so a broken map and a wish for a better search sort themselves. Give app problems an owner in the inbox, and post them to Slack for the person who manages your app vendor.

The 14 the event app questions, with when to ask each
Grouped by what they tell you. Use them as they are or change the wording.
Who used the app
Start with whether attendees installed the app, then how much they relied on it, so you know how many people the other answers speak for.
- 01Yes / No
Did you install the event app?
Splits attendees into app users and everyone else. Put it first and add logic to skip the app questions for attendees who answered No; Results shows the share who said yes.
- 12Dropdown
Which phone did you bring?
Which phone attendees brought, with an option for those who didn't use one. Results shows each share, and the attendees without a phone tell you how many still need printed schedules and signs.
- 06Ruler
How many times a day did you open the event app?
How often attendees opened the app in a day, from zero to twenty. Results shows the median and the middle half, a better measure of real use than the install count.
- 14Slider
How much of your schedule did you plan in the app?
The share of their schedule attendees planned in the app, from zero to 100. Results shows the median and the middle half, a fair read on whether the app replaced the printed program.
How well it worked
These rate the app and its parts, so you can tell your vendor exactly what to fix.
- 02Stars
How would you rate the event app?
One star rating for the app. Results shows the average and the share who rated it 4 or higher, a single number to bring to your vendor review.
- 09Big scale
How much did the app improve your day?
A ten point score for how much the app helped. Results shows the average and a column per step; select the low scores to read what those attendees found missing.
- 10Matrix
Rate the event app on each
Rates speed, search, maps and notifications in one grid. The heat map shows which part of the app pulls the rating down, a specific list for your vendor.
- 04Customer effort
How easy was it to build your own schedule in the app?
A customer effort score for building a personal schedule. Results shows the average and the share who found it easy; a low share points to search or the way sessions are saved.
- 08Multiple choice
How were the notifications from the app?
A quick read on notification volume. A large share of Too many is a reason to cut reminders before the next event, since attendees who mute the app miss room changes.
What attendees used and wanted
Ask what attendees opened the app for, what they used instead and what they would rather have, before you pay for features nobody touched.
- 03Multiple choice
What did you use the app for?
Attendees pick every part of the app they used. Results shows a bar for each, so you can see whether the schedule did all the work and the sponsor list went unopened.
- 11Number
How many sessions did you add to your app schedule?
How many sessions attendees saved to their schedule, from zero to forty. Results shows the median and the middle half; a low median means most attendees planned somewhere else.
- 05Multiple choice
What did you mostly use to find your way around?
Asks what attendees mostly used to find their way. Results shows each share on a donut; a large share for signs or staff tells you the maps in the app didn't do their job.
- 07Text
Which part of the app was missing when you needed it?
Asks what attendees needed and couldn't find. Each answer gets a type such as bug or idea and a theme, so missing features and broken screens are easy to read apart.
- 13This or that
For an event app you would rather have
Two pairs: one app or a simple web page, reminders or silence. Results shows a split bar per pair, which helps before you renew the app contract.
Tips for asking about the event app
Small choices that get honest, useful answers.
- 01
Ask about the install first
Open with the install question and skip the rest for attendees who didn't install the app, so the ratings come from people who used it.
- 02
Learn from attendees who skipped it
Read what those attendees used instead. Signs, staff and the printed program tell you what to keep even when the app improves.
- 03
Bring the grid to your vendor
Share the grid and the missing features with your app vendor before you renew, so the next version fixes what attendees noticed.
- 04
Keep the app questions in one survey
Five or six questions about the app fit inside your main event survey, so attendees answer once.
