The people who served you survey questions

Staff questions that show who made the visit for your guests

Ask guests about the people who looked after them, from the front desk to the bar. Each question below comes with when to ask it and what the answer tells you.

What hotel staff feedback survey questions tell you

Hotel staff feedback survey questions ask guests about the people behind the stay: which team looked after them best, how staff spoke to them, whether anyone went out of their way and who they want to thank by name. Guests remember people longer than rooms, and a thank-you with a name attached is the easiest praise to pass on to a team.

Ask the day after checkout, or at the end of a restaurant visit with a QR code on the check. Pick four or five: the team grid, what staff did well, the open question for a name and the one for what to pass on. Use the answers to recognize and coach the team, and keep the questions on the service guests received.

Each written answer gets a category, a theme, a sentiment and an urgency. Praise is typed as praise, so the inbox can gather every named thank-you for the weekly team meeting, and workflows can post it to a team channel in Slack or Microsoft Teams.

The 14 the people who served you questions, with when to ask each

Grouped by what they tell you. Use them as they are or change the wording.

How the team made guests feel

Start with the feeling the team left and how staff spoke, then whether anyone went further than expected.

  1. 07Emoji

How did the team make you feel?

How the team made the guest feel, on a row of faces. Results shows each face with its share, compared with the period before, a simple measure to share with the whole team.

  2. 05Multiple choice

How did staff speak to you?

How staff spoke to the guest, from warm and natural to cold. Results shows each share; a growing share for scripted points to training that has gone too far.

  3. 01Yes / No

Did a member of staff go out of their way for you?

A yes or no on whether someone went out of their way. Select Yes in Results to read the names and stories those guests left in the open questions.

Each team side by side

The grid and the team picked as best show where service is strong and which team needs support.

  1. 11Matrix

    Rate each team you met

Rates the front desk, housekeeping, the restaurant and the bar on one grid. The heat map shows which team pulls the service score down, with an average per row.

  2. 02Multiple choice

Which team looked after you best?

One pick for the team that looked after the guest best. Results shows a donut with each share; read it beside the team grid, since a team can be picked often and still rate low with others.

  3. 04Dropdown

How many staff did you deal with during your visit?

How many staff the guest dealt with, including none at all. Select the self service answer in Results to see how those guests rated the stay without a conversation.

What good service looks like here

These show what guests notice and value most, so you know what to keep teaching and what to fix in handovers.

  1. 03Multiple choice

    What did staff do well?

Lists what staff did well, with several picks allowed. Results shows a bar per option, which tells you what your guests notice and what to keep teaching new staff.

  2. 06Stars

How well did staff know their own menu and hotel?

A star rating for how well staff knew the menu and the hotel. Results shows the average and the share who rated 4 or higher; a low score points to gaps in onboarding.

  3. 08Big scale

How quickly did staff notice you needed something?

How quickly staff noticed the guest needed something, from 1 to 10. Results shows the average and a column per step; read it beside how often guests had to ask twice.

  4. 14Number

How many times did you have to ask twice for something?

How many times the guest had to ask twice, from 0 to 20. Results shows the median and the middle half; anything above zero is a request that slipped through a handover.

  5. 12Ranking

Rank what you want most from staff

Guests put five things in order, from speed and warmth to being remembered. Results shows the average place per item, which tells you what to train for first.

Words to pass on

Close with names and messages for the team, then an invitation to say thank you.

  1. 09Text

Name the person who made your visit better

An open question for the name of the person who made the visit better. Pass each name to that person's manager; Results shows each answer with its sentiment and theme.

  2. 10Text

What should we pass on to the team about today?

An open question for what to tell the team about today. The answers mix praise and coaching notes, and each one is typed as praise, a complaint or an idea.

  3. 13Call to action

Want to send a thank you to the team?

A closing card that invites the guest to thank the team. Link it to your review page or a thank-you form, and show it after the open questions so the guest has already named someone.

Tips for asking about the people who served you

Small choices that get honest, useful answers.

  1. 01

    Share praise the same week

Read the named thank-yous at the weekly team meeting. Praise passed on quickly means more than praise saved for a yearly review.

  2. 02

    Coach with patterns

Use themes that repeat across many answers for training. A single complaint about one person is a matter for their manager.

  3. 03

Keep the team grid the same

Use the same rows every month, so the heat map compares the front desk with its own past months.

  4. 04

    Ask about the service only

Keep the questions on what guests experienced, and leave performance reviews to your own process with each employee.

Add these questions to a survey

From the library to the first answers.

  1. 1

Paste questions reads up to 10 questions from any text on Free, 100 on Starter and 200 on Pro and above, keeps your wording and picks an answer type for each.

  3. 3

    Choose where it runs

Show the survey on your website, send it by email, share its link and QR code, or switch it to a conversation.

  4. 4

    Read the answers
